In memory of
Debbie Murray
June 1, 2008
I just heard about Sgt. Cannons passing. My huband and I are very saddened by this news. He was very kind and helpful to our son which was in his unit and has been serving in Iraq. He checked on us often during Jonathans deployment. He truly cared about all people. He will be truly missed.

"Bunny" and I were good friends our whole lives, through high school & college. We were in each other's weddings and at each of our daughter's births! Although we had lost touch over the past few years, I thought of him often and am sadden that I did not learn of his death until after the funeral as I surely would have been there to pay tribute to a dear old friend with whom I had many memorable experiences. Dear "Bunny" you will be missed.

I still vision Steve and I coming back from a weekend visit in Mississippi carrying on a hell of a conversation about anything and everything. I still see Steve at J.C. Hunters backyard and pool cooking ribs. I pray some day to see Steve and all the brothers from HHC 31st Armor in the right place, Heaven. Steve. I'll be watching for you. My sympathies to the family.

I am a cousin of Steve's and have fond memories from childhood when we called him "Bunny". I am sending a photo from about 1955. Steve is the one holding the camera (as if you couldn't tell!). The others in the picture are his brother Skip (sitting on the ground), me (holding the baby, "Puddy" Maughan), my sister Anne and my brother Snow, and Danny and Ruthie Beard. It was taken at the Beard house where we spent many holidays with all the Beard family. I will not be able to attend the service tomorrow due to other family obligations, but please know that my thoughts and prayers will be with your family at this time of sorrow.

Steve was a generous man to those who needed him. His life in the military proved his generosity, not only to his country, but also his fellow man. If someone was in need he did what he could for them. I know he will be missed by his wife, Tricia, his family and friends. I am glad Steve had someone in his life to help him through his last days with us. Thank you Tricia. May the Peace of our Lord be with you. God Bless You.
