1933 - 2017 Our beloved husband and father was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 5, 2017 while at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Steve was a lifelong area resident and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. He graduated from Lamar University in 1976 with a management degree. He was retired from Arco Polymer after 23 years of service as a lab technician. He was also owner of Love & More Children's Daycare in Groves, Texas. He was a member of the Golden Triangle Antique Car Club, and Port Arthur Masonic Lodge 1264. Steve also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Joseph N. Hawthorne, mother, Elizabeth Jones Hawthorne, first wife, Bobbie Hawthorne, and brother, David C. Hawthorne. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Hawthorne of Port Acres; daughter, Juliee Kay Chumley and husband Lenard of Aubrey, TX; son, Stephen Hawthorne of Forney, TX; sisters, Lorraine Marsh of Groves, TX and Betty Jacobs of St. George, UT; grandchildren, Cameron Chumley, Stephen Evan Hawthorne, Adam Rountree, Holly Thomas, and three great-grand- children; step-sons, Jimmy, Kenny, and Ritchie Smith and wife Delena; step-daughters, Patty Klima and Michele Smith. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal, Port Acres, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres with Reverend Jeff Bell officiating and assisted by Reverend Bob Roberts. Entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7. "Thank you for being the man you were and having such a strong Christian influence and for the example you set for all of our lives. We were truly blessed to have had you in our lives. We love you and will see you soon through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
