To the Family of Mr. Steve Lawrence,
We are truly saddened to hear about the death of Steve Lawrence, and we send our heartfelt condolences to you during this sad time. We have certainly lost a versatile multi-talented person. We are thankful he shared his remarkable gifts and talents with us, and he will certainly be missed.

I grew up listening to his music, and he did have amazing talent as a singer, actor, and comedian. He was a frequent guest on "The Carol Burnett Show," and I still watch him on reruns of the program. He was a great balladeer, and I love his baritone voice and his easy, heartfelt singing. Some of my favorite songs are "Go Away Little Girl", "Portrait of My Love", and "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me." He even dedicated an album, "When You Come Back to Me Again", to his beloved wife Eydie Gormé after she died, and the music/songs are beautiful and heartfelt. Thank you, Mr. Lawrence, for adding happiness and joy to many people around the world. You will not be forgotten. Most certainly, your legacy will continue to inspire others.

Please continue to treasure your good memories and may they soothe your saddened hearts. May prayers strengthen you and cherished memories comfort you, and may God soothe your hearts and comfort you always. (23rd Psalm)

I saw Steve & Eydie perform many times. Talented, charming, funny. One of the best voices. They were the best interpreters of the Great American Song Book. A terrible loss. May his memory be a blessing.

I was a United States Army Chorus member from 1956 to 1959, when Steve was the soloist for popular song repertoire with the United States Army Band. I took this photo of Steve with Paul Richards, another member of the Chorus who became a Broadway star following his military service. Steve was not only a great performer but also a great colleague.

As an alumnus of The U.S. Army Chorus 1986-2017, I can tell you that early in my career I heard about some of our many famous alumni, among who was Steve Lawrence, a soloist the The U.S. Army Band 1958 -60. Steve will always be remembered and mentioned with pride by the members of Pershing's Own, The United States Army Band. The towering musical legacy he and Eydie Gorme have left us will never fade from our country's history. Deepest sympathy to their family and friends.

Steve was unique as an all consummate performer. He did it all with aplomb! His singing was up there with the best. His comedic talent was natural and spot on. Despite the fact that he was well known and certainly appreciated, to a certain extent he was underrated. And, oh yes, chock full of charisma.

I want to say that your father was no small part of my life growing up. I watched all the shows with your mom and him performing. They both represent all that was good in America and entertainment. Your father always seem to enjoy the comedy sketches he got thrown into as well. That’s why I’m writing. I don’t want you to think he was a small part of America and entertainment history. He was such a good entertainer, that heari g if his passing brings me yo tears more like a important gamily member or uncle or older cousin then he does a distant performer. It’s a sad day to see his passing, but I will always see his smiling face and good nature and your mother there by his side. Forever Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme’, national treasures, no World Treasures.

I adored Steve. He was best friends with my brother Dennis Bono. I had a chance to spend time with Steve and a little bit of time Eydie. Our visits were delightful. I always felt like I was with family whenever I was with him. A truly classic act and a performer with substance and warmth. David, you were given a great legacy and I’m sure your dad and mom are looking over you with pride.

Steve Lawrence has been an important part of my life since I was little and I saw him singing Go Away Little Girl on a telethon and I thought he was singing to me! I have seen Steve and Eydie countless times and would wait outside the stage door to see them after the show. I loved his singing and his jokes and acting and kindness. Steve made such a big impact on my life and I will miss him dearly.

RIP Steve Lawerence,
It is so sad seeing our American entertainers passing on that I/we grew up with. You, Elvis the King of Music and RR, your wife Edie Gorme, Michael Jackson, Johnny cash, Jerry Naylor, Charlie Pride, Marvin Gaye, and lots of others are gone, but the good music lasts and new generations of music entertainment fans will discover all of the good stuff from back then. When we saw you and your wife on tv, we
(Me and my family) loved seeing you two on tv, and you two it seemed that if one showed up, then where was the other one. That´s how good of a duo you two were, you and your wife, Edie. (Edie was so pretty and beautiful, and was a darn good singer!) As that era
(60´s and 70´s) passes on, but as it was going on it seemed like it would never end, but it did, and so will this present days pass on for this new generation of entertainment fans just give time. Thanks for your entertainment work Steve and thanks also too all support personnel workers, who work unseen in the backgrounds that make any show possible.

Steve and Eydie were a part of my early life as it seemed they appeared on every variety and talk show of the time. I always enjoyed Steve´s smooth, silky voice as a solo and the harmony he created in duets with his wife. They were of a bygone entertainment past the likes of which may never be seen again. Now he and Eydie can sing those duets once again.

I met Steve and Eydie back in 1978. Each time I saw them it was as if we picked up where we left off. Steve was gracious, funny and kind and after Eydie passed I knew there would be a massive void in his heart. I know they are together and singing up a storm for the angels. God bless you Steve
