Steven Paul Moen, 48, entered into eternal peace in the arms of his wife on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the Sanford Hospital, Fargo North Dakota.
Steven Paul Moen "Beezer" was born on September 11, 1967 in Breckenridge, MN. Steve was the 4th child to Ed and Lois(Reinke) Moen. Steve grew up on the family farm near Galchutt ND, where he attended grade school and high school at Richland 44 Public School. Steve played Legion Baseball, Basketball, and Football. He was involved in Band (Saxaphone, Trombone and Guitar). Lois thinks the saxophone was destroyed by playing catch with it in the music room. He graduated in 1985 and then attended college and earned degrees from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton in Ag Economics (1986-1987) and Moorhead State University in Business and Industrial Distribution (1988-1992).
For more than 45 years, Steve relished summers at Ottertail Lake with his friends and family. He was an avid golfer and regularly enjoyed a round at Balmoral Golf Course. He started his own golf tournament in 1980 after building a 9-hole course at the family farm. The tournament has been an annual event for the past 35 years in various locations including Perham, Thumper Pond and most recently at Balmoral.
He married Vicki Norgard in June 2002 and embraced affectionately Hayden, Chris and Cody Blegen as his sons. His dream of expanding his family came true when little Eric was born in 2005.
Steve was a lifelong member of Galchutt Luthern church.
Steve was President of Richland County Farm Bureau for a number of years. For the past 14 years Steve has served on the City Council and was currently the Mayor of Colfax.
In 2009, Steve was diagnosed with Cushing's disease where he learned he had a pituitary tumor. He started doctoring at least every 6 months at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He underwent several procedures in the past 6 years to combat the growth of the tumor as well as its affects. Steve's fight was a daily process that required extraordinary strength. He fought hard by insisting on living life to the fullest – pursuing his passions of farming, landscaping/gardening, hunting and golf and caring for the growth of his family and his community.
