Steve Olson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2024.
Stephen Oliver Olson, 63, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 6th, 2024 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends as he passed from this life to the next.

Steve was born on February 16, 1961 in Bemidji Minnesota, the son of the late Oliver and Kathryn Olson. He attended grade school while in Bemidji but graduated from Kennedy High School, Bloomington in 1979. From there he attended Hennepin County Vocational School in the auto repair program and spent the majority of his career working for WEC Energy.

Steve married Kelly Boroos on September 1st, 1984 and they had two wonderful children: Kathryn Barbara and Matthew Oliver. They lived in Lakeville until Kelly's death from leukemia in 2007.

After losing Kelly, Steve continued to be involved with his church, attending Bible studies and being a part of their small groups. It was there that he met Patty Fosler eight years earlier, and they married on November 21st, 2015. They resided in Eagan until his death. He and Patty enjoyed riding his Harley, target shooting, sitting by the campfire, spending time with their grandkids, and loving on everyone's dogs. He loved them and they loved him!

Steve was a firefighter for nine years and cherished the opportunity to help people in need. He was generous in all things and would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He enjoyed listening to the Word of God, and spent his last months soaking in the Scriptures.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; his children - Matt (Ashley) of Faribault, MN, and Katie (Joy) of El Paso, TX; step-children - Katie (Colin) Foley, Elko New Market MN; Bryan (Emily) Fosler, Madison, WI; Beth (Ryan) Baumgartner, Midland, MI; eight grandchildren - Michaella, Brady, Liam, McKenna, Eli, Ashlynn, Jonas, and Remington; sisters - Maxine Elliott of Bemidji, Mary (Don) Erickson of Prescott Valley, AZ; and Margaret Olson of Arden Hills, MN; niece Terri (Tim) Weinhandl, Casper, WY; nephew Tim Elliott, Bemidji MN. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kelly, parents, and brother-in-law Frank Elliott.

Join us on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at 4pm as we come together at The Real Tree Church to honor the life of Steve, a faithful servant of the Most High God. The service will begin at 4pm with a meal to follow.

The LORD loves a cheerful giver - which Steve demonstrated in so many ways (and Patty, as well)!
The more I learned about Steve, the more i admired his 'ministry'.

I'll always remember Steve's love for the Lord and for the Country of the United States. I remember some years back when I asked if anyone was interested in praying for our Nation, Steve and Patty were the only ones to step up. We'd meet together at their home weekly to stand in the gap for the USA.....not only was Steve a beautiful son of God, he was also a true Patriot!! :)

Steve and Patty were my volunteer coordinators when I ran for office. They came over to help me with my car and he bumped his head on the overhead pipe in the garage next to my garage after looking under my hood. Steve and Patty were always helping. This was over and above..Steve was a very kind, God fearing man. I was so blessed to have known him. He will be missed!

In my Bible reading today I came across this verse, Proverbs 10:7a "The memory of the righteous person is a blessing." Steve was a blessing in my life I will cherish his example of faith. He ran his raise to the very end and split the tape smiling looking up.
