Steven Paul Amato

Born in the heart of Medford, Massachusetts in July of 1962 to Eleanor and George Amato, Steven was a talented, sensitive, creative who lived for music. Steven will always be remembered as a kind, creative, funny and loving person who had a passion for composing and absorbing music as the fabric of his life.

Steven was a true artist. Someone who seemed ahead of his time, Steve was deeply committed to writing sensitive and thoughtful lyrics and melodies. As a lead vocalist of the band the Tried and the Accused which released 13 albums that brought listeners a fresh and unique style of hard rock music, Steve wrote many of the lyrics and melodies for the band's songs, produced by Alex Bennett as well as his later solo albums, with Debra Farris.

In Debra Farris's account "Steve was full of ideas, was easy going and loving about whatever the muse had in store. In addition to music, he loved Rock n' Roll fashion and was always up for an edgy photo shoot. Even though he had a tough exterior, his heart was soft, loyal and sensitive. Many of his songs were about the human condition and are posted on YouTube. I think perhaps, many people's life goals are to make a difference, and he very much did that. "

Steve grew up in Massachusetts and loved its history and lore. His dear cousin, Joseph Amato, recalls that "Salem, Massachusetts was one of his favorite places to visit and the niche for his music was inspired from Salem's ghastly past. With respect for the victims of the witch hysteria he created music for those who did not get a chance to speak or for the ears that would not listen. "

Steven had a jovial way about him and wanted to make those around him laugh. He was kind and always interested in how others were feeling and thinking. He cared deeply about those around him. He loved animals...Shy, nonetheless, Steven was always there for his friends to help and support those he loved. He was generous, funny, talented, conscious and spiritual.
