Steven Bishop Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 28 to Sep. 29, 2012.
Bishop, Steven Kraft
55 of Scottsdale. It is with great sadness we announce Steve's unexpected passing on September 25, 2012 after a brief illness. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Meg, two sons Greg and Dan, best canine friends Missy & Buddy, and adoring sister Anne and her family in Minnesota. He will be forever missed by his family & friends for his quick smile, ability to tell a good story, his positive outlook and mellow demeanor. Steve obtained his surveying certificate in 1982 and spent two years as a surveyor, traversing Venezuela and Colombia with Western Geophysical. When he returned to the States, he went back to school and graduated from DeVry Institute in 1985 with a degree in electronics engineering. After spending several years at a "desk job" with Lockheed Aerospace, and a few more years trying to decide what he wanted to do for a fun job, he joined the US Postal Service in 1998 as a letter carrier at the Cactus Station in Phoenix, where he looked forward to being out and about in the community every day. Steve took great pride in his garden, and shared his green thumb with Greg. He loved nothing more than spending a day off working in the yard. Steve enjoyed entertaining friends with Meg, and liked to cook, especially his favorite Minnesota hot dishes and Lefse. Every morning, rain or shine, he would be out walking his dogs, and during Lacrosse season, he could always be found on the field watching Dan play. The wonderful critical care team at Scottsdale Healthcare will be further reviewing and documenting his case to better understand his severe reaction to the Capnocytophaga Canimorsus bacteria. Steve's cremation will be handled by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 30th from 11am-2pm at his home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for his children at Wells Fargo under the account name "Bishop Boys Memorial Fund."

Our family is so sorry for the sudden death of Steve. We knew your family through our son & then our daugher playing soccer with Dan on Coach Paul's team ... Steve was always there cheering on Dan and beamed with pride for both of his boys & Meg.
Our prayers are with you..

My sincere sympathy to Steve's family. I worked with Steve at Cactus Station until I retired three years ago. Steve was truly one of the nicest carriers that I have ever met. He always had a smile on his face, and it was a real pleasure to work with him. The news came as quite a shock to me and makes me feel very sad. God bless all of you.
