STEVEN CRUM Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 11 to Apr. 14, 2023.
STEVEN E. CRUM It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Steven E. Crum. Steve passed away on March 18, 2023, at the age of 76. Steve was loved by many to include his parents, Marlin and Marcia (Johnson) Crum; his sons Jeremy, Jamie, and Joshua; his wife Janet; and his siblings, Dr. Sue Larson (Bruce) and Scott Crum (Carrie). Steve was raised in Nebraska City, Nebraska where he attended Nebraska City High School and graduated with the class of 1964. Steve studied architecture and engineering in college and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with an advanced degree in Construction Engineering in January 1970. Steve met his wife-to-be in the fall of 1969 and they were married March 28, 1970 where they lived in Lincoln, NE and Steve went to work for Kingery Construction as an estimator and later a project manager. Steve's three sons, Jeremy, Jamie, and Josh were born in the seventies. During that time Steve also served in the Nebraska National Guard from 1970 to 1976. Steve and his family moved to Omaha, NE in the mid-eighties when he went to work for Lueder Construction where he served as the project manager for the construction of the 94 Dodge building. Due to his innovative scheduling, construction was completed in record time and the client was able to take occupancy, meeting its nearly impossible deadline. Over time Steve worked for various construction companies and developers including Campos Construction and Ben Weisman. Steve also worked for Alley Poyner, an architectural firm, where he was the project manager for the Leid Center in his home-town of Nebraska City before his retirement. Before retiring Steve also managed some construction projects independently. Steve is survived by his wife Janet, sons Jeremy and Josh, sister Dr. Sue Larson and husband Bruce, brother Scott and wife Carrie, and many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his son Jamie, and parents Marlin and Marcia Crum.
