Steven O. Daniel passed away July 20, 2017. He was born November 26, 1944 and was the younger of two children born in Trenton, MO, to Howard Orville and Hazel Dean (Craig) Daniel of Spickard, MO.
Steven worked on the dairy farm with his dad after graduation (1962) from Spickard High School, 2 years of Trenton Jr. College in 1963 to 1964, 3 years at N.E. Jr. College from 1964 to 1967. Then he enlisted, in Kirksville, MO, on July 1, 1968 into the United Stated Air Force, serving 4 years during the Vietnam War. While in the service he served in Wichita Kansas and Frankfurt Germany, receiving a ribbon for Small Arms Expert Marksmanship and two medals for Outstanding Unit Award in December 1967 and November 1968. While in the service, he served as an Inventory Management Specialist and was Honorable discharged on May 23, 1972. Then finishing one more year of college to get the Agricultural Business bachelor’s degree.
On July 14, 1973, Steven was united to Florence Marie Bassett, whom he had met at the Dairy Queen in Trenton, MO. They were married for 38 years before the Lord took her home in 2012.
He joined Avondale Baptist and served as a Deacon for many years.
Steve worked many, many jobs in his career, holding the longest for 10 years at Emery Worldwide as a delivery driver in Kansas City, MO from 1982 to 1991. He retired in 2009 and still continued to work at odd jobs to stay busy.
After a short battle with his health, he went home to be with Florence (Mema) at the age of 72.
Steven was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, in 2012, and his father and mother. He is survived by a daughter, Serena (Randy) Hager, of Itasca, Ill; a brother, Craig (Gloria) Daniels, of Kansas City, MO; 2 grandsons, Jimmy Skelton of Kansas City, MO and Jordon Skelton of Itasca, Ill; and two great grandchildren, Ellianna and Hunter Skelton.
