Steve came across to FC from HFEO somewhere about 1975/6.
The year before I promoted to FAE
Steve was my FC on Alma Helitack. He was an outstanding human being, was a great mentor and individual to work for. He was very outgoing, just a great guy. I am very sad to hear this news.
I promoted and moved on to NEU
as a FC there. Somewhere around
2001 a HFEO came to Dobbins
station. I was in that
battalion at Loma Rica. After 25 years we worked together again
and shared old memories.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I know Steve grew up in the woods I believe logging. I know his father was a SFR-1 (now a Battalion chief) at Bieber in Lassen Modoc.
Rest in peace my friend, gone much to soon, much to young.
You will be missed

Steve was just a good guy with all the ability in the world. In high school, I really wanted to be adopted by his family, because they were always doing fun things and going to cool places. Really glad I got to visit with him and Frank Watkins and Steve Jacobs last May.
My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Steve.

As one of Steve,s friends from our years at Big Valley High School, my memories include football, basketball, dirt bikes, water skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. Our many adventures together included an awesome 2000 mile, post graduation road trip thru Utah and the south west in Steves awesome 1971 Chevy truck. Hazards on this youthful trip included fatigue, hangovers, sunburns, vinyl seats and no A/C. We continued as friends for over the last 50 or so years, though only seeing each other occasionally to catch up on lives lived and lessons learned.
Time well spent.
