Steven Cordell Dutter

Ojai - Steven C Dutter, 73, of Ojai, CA, died peacefully on September 11, 2025. He was surrounded by the love of family and in the arms of his beloved wife, Kris.

Steve was born in Oxnard, CA and graduated from Oxnard High School in 1970. Steve worked most of his career as a public works inspector for the City of Simi Valley and was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to core values.

Steve and his first wife had a son, Adam in 1981 and he raised Adam as a single Dad nurturing a love of sports. Steve and Adam swam at the Ojai Raquet Club for many years where Steve met his second wife, Kris. They were married in 2001.

Although Steve lived his whole life in Ventura County, he had a lifelong love of adventure and travel. He and Kris retired early and spent 10 wonderful years traveling across the USA.

Steve was preceded in death by father Conway Lee Dutter and mother Frances Louise Antonio.

He is survived by his wife Krissell Dutter; brothers Jeff and Mike Dutter; son Adam Dutter (Brittany); stepdaughters Robin Detmer (Scott); and Roselle McNeilly (Joe); and eight grandchildren Cadence, Mason, Miles, Brayden, Max, Addison, Chase and Claire.

We will miss his warmth, playful banter and lively eyes. Rest in peace, Rascal. We love you!
