I worked for Steve in the print shop in Spring Branch I.S D. Late 80's early 90's. Great Boss. Many great conversations and I enjoyed his sense of humor. I know he'll be truly missed. God Bless.

So sorry to hear this news.
I knew Goeggs in college at Delhi.
We used to play solfball on Sunday afternoon's. Steve was a very good 3rd baseman. We used to drink beer during the game. The more we drank, the more incredible plays he made.
He was loved by all.

Judy, Paul and families:
Steve was such a special person to many. He will be missed.
Your song will not end. The kindness you have shown. The wisdom you have shared. The love you have given. None of that will end. It will go on and on, passed like an heirloom of faith from person to person, not only of your own family, but between the countless others you have known, cared for, worked with, prayed for and respected. You have made music with your life. You have made a witness. The harmony you have embodied and the hope you have embraced will sing on after you, sing on into generations yet to come. Your vision will live in many hearts until one joyous day it joins the chorus of life that began when Spirit first started to sing.

I knew Steve since the 1st grade but it wasn't until junior high school that we became fast friends. Steve and I were the smallest kids in our class but the difference between us was that Goeggs had the courage of a lion. Back in those days size meant everything and it was less than a week in a new school (Charlotte Junior, Senior High) and I was targeted by the school bully. School had ended for the day and I was headed to the bus stop when a giant of a kid grabbed me by the collar and started shaking me like a rag doll, demanding I give him my bus fare. The next thing I knew, i was on the ground with a ripped shirt and there was Goeggs, standing between me and the giant like an immovable hunk of granite, facing down the bully who was cuppng his left ear and trying to hold back tears. I never knew if Goeggs hit that kid because there were a few other kids who had come and stood with him but it was he who said two words to the bully and ended the show down. He said, "get lost" and that's exactly what the kid did. From that day forward, I knew I had a friend in Goeggs and i learned a valuable lesson. I learned that size is nothing compared to moxy and courage and Goeggs had both in spades.
