Miss you my brother, my friend. Love Dave
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name´s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

We met Steve as he ministered to his cousin Jim Fry. Jim never married and had minimal family. Steve stepped in to care for Jim. Eventually moving Jim to West Virginia so he could care for Jim. We were able to attend the service and funeral in Berks County and met Connie for the first time. Steve was truly serving as a man of God. We are saddened by his passing and want to send our condolences to Connie and his daughters.

We are so heartbroken for your families. I am thankful I got to see Steve recently and we will always remember him for the kind, generous, caring person he was, not to mention his 'Gottshall' wit and sense of humor.
Love and peace to you all.

My favorite memory was when Steve used to bring me and Amanda to the hospital to see the babies that was just born. This world lost an amazing man also and amazing anesthesiologist I had the pleasure of having him while I went through surgery. Made sure I wasn´t nervous and took great care of me .

Dad and I were supposed to leave for our two week vacation in Europe yesterday, beginning with a 3 night stay on the Amalfi Coast and then a 10-day cruise to Turkey, Greece, and Croatia. Dad was looking forward to seeing Italy for the first time. I was looking forward to experiencing a vacation with him, as vacations always brought out an extra goofy, spontaneous, and lighthearted side of my dad.
I´m going on our vacation in your memory, Dad. Right now I´m sitting in the IGA lounge in the Istanbul airport. I was so excited to show you this beautiful airport, and take you to have your first airport lounge experience. When I came here for the first time, I was so excited by the free buffet and open bar and I know you would have been too. I´ll be sprinkling some of your ashes in Italy, so you´ll get to see it after all.
I have so many things left to say. I´m going to be reflecting on our trip about all the wonderful memories we´ve shared over the years. I love you Dad .

Mr. Gottshall was a wonderful father to his three daughters. When he moved Sarah into our apartment we shared during college, he had a smile on his face and was loving and warm. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

I met Steve in 7th grade at Schuylkill Valley High School. I watched him run track after school many times. He was always smiling and laughing. I also knew his mother, as she was a nurse at my family doctor´s office many years ago.

My seminary internship was at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reading, PA 1979-1980. Steven and his family were members and became friends. We kept in touch over the years. The shock and sadness of Steve's passing so close to his mother's is hard to accept. Yet I know that they were people of deep faith and compassion. May he rest in peace and may light perpetual shine on him.
