Steven W. Hobart, 63, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:54 a.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Asta Care Center in Bloomington.

He was born September 10, 1948 in Bloomington, son of Wayne Robert and Kathryn Sena Peterson Hobart. He married Patricia Lynn.

Surviving are one son, Ryan (Michelle) Hobart of Bloomington; two grandsons, Cole and Hoyt Hobart and two sisters, Marcia Hoeft of Mt. Vernon and Lois (Pete) Ehling of Clinton.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and three aunts, Zemma, Jo & Ferne.
He was a United States Vietnam Veteran.

Steven enjoyed cars and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Bloomington-Normal Motorcycle Club, where he was a past president for 2 years. He was also a member of the Bloomington Moose Lodge and volunteered much of his time with the Mill Creek Condominium Association in Bloomington.

He retired in 2003 after 37 years with GTE/Verizon. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Online condolences may be submitted to www.EastLawn-Bloomington.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just recently heard about your fathers passing and am very sad I didn't know in time to attend the service for him. Your father was my neighbor when I lived on Rainbow. He was a great friend and neighbor. He helped me often with projects in my yard and one year he even dressed up as Santa for my kids on Christmas Eve. I still have the video....I remember my kids whispering to each other,"I think that is Steve." I just want you to know what a great guy your father was to all. My prayers and thoughts are with your family.
