Steven Lechtanski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2012.
Steve was born on December 22, 1959 at Travis Air Force Base, CA. He came to San Diego where he raised his daughters and supported them through school. He worked for Pep Boys as a Mechanic in El Cajon and Kearny Mesa for 14 years.

He met the love of his life in September 2009 and they were married on May 27, 2012. His cancer was found in May 2012 and throughout several hospital stays, he kept the nurses busy as he would instruct them what to do! He enjoyed a great family reunion with his immediate family only weeks before his death. As an avid Notre Dame fan, he kept that "fighting Irish spirit" until the end!

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Navarro, daughters Sarah Lechtanski from Costa Mesa, CA and Samantha Lechtanski from Lemon Grove, CA, stepson Gregory Navarro from Linda Vista, CA, parents Robert and Donna Lechtanski from Warner Robins, GA, and sisters Toni Ferreira from Aptos, CA, and Dawn Pease and brother-in-law Ronald Pease from Aztec, NM.

His hobbies included camping, tinkering with cars, playing with his "big boy and his girl", Aero and Blanca, and listening to rock and roll! He loved and adored his brown-eyed girl, Rosie; she was his ROCK! He was a fan of the Lakers, 49ers and Notre Dame. Playing cards, sipping Blue Moon and enjoying an occasional bloody mary at Mr. Peabody's and margaritas at Casa De Pico were also favorite pastimes. He enjoyed life to the fullest! Recently baptized on September 18, 2012, he knew he would be "goin' up to the Spirit in the sky…"

Mass will be held on October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

We love you Steve; you will be missed!

One of the biggest Laker and Notre Dame fan I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. A nice pint of Guinness will never be the same without you.

I met Steve once at a bar with Rosie. They had a chemistry you could see from a mile a way. Fun and loving both of them. I am so sorry for what has happened. I am glad though that you found each other before the end. Rest now Steve. Take care Rosie.

Dad, I'm going to miss you so much! Know that I think of you in the better times that we have had together. You have raised me to be a smart, independent, and hardworking person. My heart still is a little weak from you not being here anymore, but know that I will always try to make you proud. Watching these Notre Dame and Laker games will never be the same without you, but your spirit will always be there! Love you Dad
