Steven Rankin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2024.
Rankin, Steven F., aged 59 of San Pedro, Newport Beach, San Diego, Fullerton and Walnut Creek, passed away on July 25, 2012. Steve was born to Bernard and Carol Rankin at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA on December 6, 1952. Steve grew up in Sacramento and Walnut Creek, attending Ygnacio Valley High School where he was on the wrestling team, before enrolling at California State University at Fullerton in 1971. After graduating from Fullerton, Steve worked with major clients such as Yamaha in advertising. From 1985 until 2011, Steve was married to Cheryl (Cheri) Sandgren and they lived in Palos Verdes and San Pedro. Steve spent most of his career in Marketing at AT&T until Cheri and he both retired in the late 1990s. Steve enjoyed a wide circle of friends who will always remember his sense of humor. Steve was a member of the local Corvette Club, the Elks Club and arranged many Wild Game Feeds in the nearby desert. Steve is survived by his brother, James, along with countless friends, cousins and other family members. Funeral Services were held on the White Light Yacht on the Pacific Ocean near Newport Beach, CA. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to a local charity.
