Steven Steger Obituary

Published by www.News-Herald.com from Apr. 15 to Apr. 16, 2023.
Steven (Steve) Frederick Steger, 70, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend of April 7. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Grampy), brother, uncle and friend.
Steve was born on February 19,1953 and was the son of the late Frederick E. and Geraldine R. Steger. Steve grew up with his siblings David Steger and the late Laura (Steger) Miller in Northeast, Ohio. Growing up, Steve and his siblings spent a lot of their time sailing. Many great memories were shared on the family sailboat, Sinbad. He even won first place in a race after pulling together a rag-tag team at the last minute. Steve was also an avid NASCAR/Indy car race fan and spent many years going to the Cleveland Grand Prix with friends and family.
Steve graduated from Mentor High School in 1971 and went on to attend Lakeland Community College. Vicki (Zahm) Steger entered his life in May of 1983, and the two married on December 18, 1983. Together, they had three children, twins Heather and Ian, and daughter, Beth, soon after. Vicki had two children, James and David Sidewand, from a previous marriage. The five children remember and cherish the great memories that he brought to their lives.Beloved Dad and caregiver of five children, "Grampy" of five grandchildren, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Steve shared his wise words with all who knew him. He was patient, kind and always willing to share thoughts or ideas on all topics. He also loved to read, enjoyed music, going to the theatre/playhouse, watching movies, playing with his grandkids and going on road trips to visit family or to Canada to visit the casinos. He and Vicki loved the Beatles, Star Wars and watching their beloved Cleveland sports teams. But most of all, they both loved spending time with family and friends.
Steve will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Geraldine Steger, his wife, Vicki, and sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Jim Miller. He is survived by his brother, David (Jane) Steger; his children, James Sidewand of Madison; David Sidewand (Jennifer) of Virginia; Heather Craigg (Anthony) of Akron; Ian Steger (Jennifer) of Virginia; and Beth Canady (James) of Virginia. His siblings, children, many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren (Noah, Owen, Lincoln, Emilia and Elise) are all better for having him a part of their lives.
