Steven C. Swift, 43, of Factoryville, died unexpectedly at work Monday evening. He was born Oct. 28, 1973, in Scranton. An avid hunter and wannabe "ice" fisherman, he graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School in 1993.

He was employed with Factoryville borough as maintenance manager since 1999, and was also operator of the Factoryville Boro/Clinton Twp. Sewer plant.

Steve embodied everything great about Factoryville: humility, hard work, love of neighbor, love of family and service to this beautiful community.

He was also employed by the Nicholson/Benton Sewer Authority. He was chief superintendent and board member of Factoryville Boro/Clinton Twp. Joint Municipal Park., member of the Factoryville Fire Company, Factoryville Men's Civic League, Factoryville Masonic Lodge #341 F&AM, 2014 person of the year for Factoryville Men's Civic League, 2016 person of the year for the Factoryville Women's Civic League, board member of the Lackawanna Trail Jr. Lions Football.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Swift; daughter, Kaycee Swift; son, Nick Swift; and grandson, Riley Swift, all from Factoryville. Also surviving are his mother, Lin Cornell and husband, Dave, of Nicholson; his father, Bill Swift and companion, Mary, of Flemington, N.J.; brother, Ron Kavetski and wife, Nicki, of Gibson; sister, Wendy Myers Swift, of Nicholson; three nieces, Kayley Kavetski, of Gibson; Myranda Stark and husband, Dave, of Clarks Summit; Serena Myers, of Nicholson; and a nephew, Dillon Burnside, of Greenfield Twp.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Kelly Kavetski, and maternal grandfather, Joseph Jezorwski, both in 2006.

Funeral service will be Friday 11 a.m. from Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes Inc., 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville, with Pastor Peter Raser officiating. Interment, Evergreen-Woodlawn Cemetery, Factoryville.

Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Factoryville Fire Company Ambulance, P.O. Box 275, 120 College Ave., Factoryville, PA 18419; or to the Factoryville Borough/Clinton Twp. Joint Municipal Park, P.O. Box 277, Factoryville, PA 18419.

Dear Sue, I don't know if you remember me. I worked with Steve and yourself at Montage. I worked the alcohol security with Steve as part of Rod"s crew. I worked the main bar next to the main Food Stand. I remember Steve as a stand up up guy. Do anything for you. Sorry I could not see you in person but I will remember Steve in my prayers. I am at loss for words... Stephen was great human, an outstanding son, bother, Uncle, friend, father, grandfather & role model to everyone's life he ever came into contact with. He was always doing & giving to anyone, everyone he could.
You are now & will be forever loved by everyones life you have toched. You will never be fogotten. You have touched the hearts and souls of everyone you have ever crossed paths with.
