FARMER CITY - Steven (Steve) Wesley Witt, 68, of Farmer City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022.
Steve was born July 24, 1954, in Bloomington, the son of Wesley and Joanie (Maxwell) Witt. He was married to Gayle (Dubson) Witt on May 25, 2012, in Crown Point, Ind. She survives.
Steve is also survived by his father, Wesley Witt of Green Valley, Ariz. His children: Christine (Jimmie) Motts of Wheatfield, Ind.; Bill Witt (Beth Clark) of Burns Harbor, Ind.; and Joe Witt of Lake Station, Ind. Stepchildren: Kristi (Aaron) Bakken of Madison, Wis.; and Katie Kocher (Brittany Byrnes) of Madison, Wis. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Steve is also survived by two sisters: Margaret (Maggie) Walz of Matteson, and Jeanne (Will) Schuldt of Peotone. Two brothers: Marty (Stella) Witt, Peoria, Ariz., and Jeff Witt (Sharon Cipkar) of Chicago Ridge.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Joanie Witt.
Steve is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served from 1975-1978. He was stationed in Italy and Germany.
He was a member of the American Legion Joe Williams Post 55 in Farmer City and The Knights of Pythias (KP) Lodge in Farmer City.
Steve was an avid collector of meteorites. He worked as a DJ for the country music radio station INDIANA 105.5 FM in Valparaiso, Ind. He loved being a DJ. He met many country singers at concerts and interviewed many over the phone.
A Celebration of Life service for Steve will be held at a later date.
