VAN RAALTE (Stewart):
Left us at 2am on the 14th of July. Husband to Charlie, Father to Elle and Greer, Dog Father to Mika. A giant amongst men. A lover of Rugby League and good wine. A voracious reader who was always full of knowledge. A pioneer of vexillology in Perth. A stalwart of the Perth restaurant scene. He will be greatly missed.

Uncle Stewart, many fond memories of coming up to see you with Dad. A man who knew our family history like the back of his hand. I used to relish in the times you would tell us the history of the van Raalte name or about Henri. And as good as your knowledge of the name was so was your eagerness to help. Will sadly be missed and sorry I couldnt be there for the final farewell. Will cherish the bottle of monarch you gifted me for the birth of my first son and I'll make sure he knows who it came from. Say hi to Harry.

Stewart was a man larger than life and a wonderful family man and friend.

Who would have thought that a chance meeting on board an aircraft bound for an island in the Indian Ocean in 1986 would culminate in the birth of the Western Reds National Rugby League Team in 1996.
Stewart not only gave the team its name, but through his years of drive and experience with Canning Bulldogs he and his great friend and Reds founder Laurie Puddy, saw the birth of the first national rugby league team from Perth.
His passion was the game.
Today the Western Reds Rugby League family salute you Stewart. A true visionary.
