Stuart Cohen, 73, of Milford, CT, passed away on January 29, 2024. He was born on July 6, 1950, in New Haven, CT. Stuart, also known as Stu, will be remembered as funny, warm, and a one of a kind individual. Stu was also known for his uncanny memory and his deep love for family. He had a particular passion for following Yale Hockey and Yale Football.

Stuart is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Cohen, His son, Sam Cohen, His Daughter, Sarah (Cohen) Gallipoli, His son in law, Frank Gallipoli, and his Daughter in law, Lori Cohen. As well as his grandchildren Christian, Isabella, Frankie, Caleb, Joshua, and Noah. He is also survived by his brother, Steven Cohen, his wife Jackie Cohen, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Stuart was preceded in death by his father, Shepard Cohen, and his mother, Fran (Spivak) Cohen.

Stuart attended Cheshire Academy for his primary education and later graduated from Hamden High School. He cherished the decades long friendships he made in those formative years.

Stu was a 35+ year employee of SYN PRO Floy Polymer. After his retirement in 2012, Stu enjoyed taking daily walks with his wife Elaine on Walnut Beach, and spending time with his grandchildren. Stu was happiest cheering them on at whatever the event of the day was and never missed a chance to be with them. An avid sports fan, Stu was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Jr., Richard Petty, and of course, his beloved Yale Bulldogs. A fixture at every football and hockey game, the Yale Bowl and Ingalls rink were truly his second home. A yearly highlight was traveling near and far to attend the NCAA Men's college hockey Frozen Four championship games with his brother, nephew, and close friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Stuart's life will be held on the evening of March 9th at the VFW in Milford, CT. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their fond memories of Stuart.

In memory of Stuart Cohen, donations can be made to the Go Fund Me that has been set up by the family.

Stuey made a bet with me that "The Bad" in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was played by Eli Wallach; while I claimed that "The Bad" was played not by Eli Wallach, but by Lee Van Cleef and that Eli Wallach played "The Ugly".
Everyone insisted that I was sure to lose the bet, as Stuey was never wrong about these things; especially. Clint Eastwood movie trivia.
He lost that particular bet And gracefully hurled a $20 bill from the third floor outside of the Inside Out Cafe, where he lives at the time.
I also remember presenting him with a bottle of Southern Comfort, for which he thanked me for one of the severest hangovers he ever had!

First met The Legend at Hamden High School. Forget what class but he was memorable and all Hamden . So glad we reconnected via Facebook and were able to meet up at Glenwood and at the HHS class of "69" Reunion.

Stu has been my neighbor since I moved to Milford in 2001 and always had a kind word to say and great stories. When Stu came across the street to talk, I always knew that I was going to have a smile on my face. His love of the Yankees and Yale was un-wavering. I loved hearing his stories about Micky Mantle and Roger Maris. I will miss him and send my regrets to his family.

The last time I saw Stu was at our 50th high school reunion. We lost touch through the years. When reminiscing with Stu at the reunion it was like we saw each other yesterday. That´s the type of man he was. In one word he was genuine. May he rest in peace. Go Yale!

You will always be the Great DaDa.
Love you forever Dad. Thank you for being the best possible father always. You taught me how to live a life full of love and laughter. I’m still learning how to be the best version of myself but I hope to raise my kids how you and mom raised us and help them be their best selves. I’ll keep making you proud Dad. And I’ll take care of mom

My greatest moments with Stu were anytime Yale beat Harvard in THE GAME at Yale Bowl. As soon as those victorious games ended, Stu and I were hugging each other in incomparable celebration!
