Karen Sue Daniel, a vibrant soul who touched countless lives, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, in
Allen, Texas. Born on January 12, 1949, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Sue was a beacon of joy and kindness throughout her 75 years.
Sue was the beloved daughter of William Edward "Red" Cox and Pauline McConnell Cox. She grew up in a loving family with her siblings, sister Linda Jensen of Boyd, TX, brothers Eddie Cox, wife Loretta of Granbury, TX and David Cox. She was predeceased by her parents, and brother David Cox.
Sue completed her high school education at Hereford High School. From a young age, she exhibited a gregarious, fun-loving nature that made her the life of every gathering. She had an impeccable sense of style, a spirited love for the outdoors, and a passion for animals. An endearing prankster, Sue's laughter and playful spirit were infectious and will be dearly missed.
In 1993, she married the love of her life, David O. Daniel, in a beautiful ceremony on April 1st in Santa Fe, NM. Over their 31 years of marriage, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and mutual respect. Together, they created a blended family that became the cornerstone of Sue's world. She is survived by her devoted husband David O. Daniel; her children Burt Zinser, wife Natalia, son Benjamin of
Dallas, TX, and Duke Zinser, wife Denise, children Mallory, Lily and Luke of Plano, TX; her step-children, David Perry Daniel, wife Clara, daughter Naida of Winnsboro, TX, Matthew Daniel, wife Natasha, children Matthew and Elizabeth of Rowlett, TX, and Joy Driscoll, husband Peter, daughter Nola of Rowlett, TX. Sue was also a cherished aunt to 8 nieces and 4 nephews.
Sue's love for animals led her to a remarkable career in dog training, specifically with Bloodhounds, for search and rescue operations. Her dedication to the Search One Rescue Team, Virginia Bloodhound Search and Rescue, National Association Search and Rescue, Golden Retriever Rescue, and Bloodhound Rescue was unparalleled. Sue trained many bloodhounds, including her beloved Boudreaux, Bojangles, and Pace, and performed hundreds of searches over 20 years. Her contributions were recognized with numerous awards from the Search One Rescue Team, The American Kennel Club, American Bloodhound Club, Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation, and her 3 bloodhounds were inducted into the Texas Animal Hall of Fame from her exemplary work.
Sue's memory will be eternally cherished by her friends, family, and the countless people and animals whose lives she touched. She was beautiful, full of life, and had an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire us all.
A funeral service to celebrate Sue's life will be held on October 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue,
Dallas, TX 75243 with a Viewing starting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Search One Rescue Team (
searchone.org), an organization close to Sue's heart.
Sue's family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone for their love and support. A special "Thank You" to Maria, Anna, her sister Linda, and her step-daughter Joy for the 24 hour love, care and support in her final months.
