Sue Jennings Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 17, 2024.
Sue Ellen Jennings (Dawson), born on April 27, 1947, in Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 14, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 77.

A self-made woman and an early pioneer in the IT industry, Sue Ellen's illustrious career included owning her own computer consulting business and working for prestigious companies such as Oracle, RackSpace, Aramark, Central Bank of Denver, and Eastern Airlines. After retiring, she spent several enjoyable years in Tyler, Texas, before moving to California to be closer to her family.

Sue Ellen was a devoted mother to her son, Richard; and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Alex and Skylar. She will be dearly missed by our family and will always be remembered as a strong and willful soul.

Sue Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Audie Dawson, and her brother, Buddy. She is survived by her sisters Julia, Kay and Nancy; her son Richard Jennings; daughter-in-law, Darian Jennings; and grandchildren, Alex and Skylar Jennings.

In accordance with her wishes, Sue Ellen will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held later this year, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory and legacy.

In her memory, contributions can be made to Liberty Sanctuary (libertysanctuary.org) or Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles (habitatla.org), causes that were close to Sue Ellen's heart.

May her memory be a blessing.

We all united as one family 20 years ago when our children happily met and married. Sue Ellen was a brilliant and strong lady who carved her own path in life and who taught her son, Richard, what is truly important in life, family, hard work, and love. We will all miss Sue Ellen with all of her charming Southern ways. May she rest in peace.

Sue Ellen or Nana as we always called her, knew how to make us all laugh with her funny comments and stories. She loved her family, our dog Barkley, chocolate and ice cream. Any combo of those things would put a smile on her face. We will miss her, but know she is at peace now.
