Summer Palmer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 12, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious Summer Dawn (McPherson) Palmer. Summer was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, auntie, cousin, granddaughter, and friend to many. Surrounded by her loving family, Summer passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father, on February 3, 2025, at the young age of 43. Her family and friends walked with, supported, and carried her during her courageous fight for life.

Summer Dawn was born in Albuquerque, NM on July 21, 1981, to Roy McPherson and Daina Bell (Norton). She worked as an Optometrist assistant for many years in Clovis, NM with Dr. Keith Barker, her friend, who taught and trusted her to do eye exams. She loved her job and all the customers she came to know and help for many years. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. Summer, a free spirit in its truest form, had a heart of gold. It was as boundless as the skies and filled with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering desire to help those in need. She would offer love and support without hesitation.

Summer was a loving mother to her three children - Casey Wayne Jr., Ian Maurice, and Leigha Paige Palmer. Even during her struggles, Summer continued to nurture, love, and guide them with all her heart and soul. She taught them to love fiercely and live freely. Summer's pride in her children was evident in everything she did.

Summer's children were her world. She was so proud to see both sons graduate and the young men they were becoming. She was looking forward to witnessing what their futures hold and the impact they will have on the world. With her "mini-me" Leigha, Summer had that precious mother-daughter bond. She loved the times she had with Leigha cheering her in volleyball, watching her dance, and getting mani-pedis together. Summer's heart was full the day Leigha Paige accepted Christ as her Savior.

Summer was also a devoted wife to Casey Wayne Palmer, Sr. Their love was a testament to her warmth and loyalty. Together they built a beautiful life filled with adventures, sports (football and volleyball), and band concerts. Family trips to the river were filled with laughter and fun.

Summer was known as "Aunt Summer" to countless nieces and nephews. To them she was a beacon of joy, always fun-loving, gentle, and full of light that shined from her soul. Her love for children extended far beyond her own, and for many years she lovingly cared for others' little ones, finding endless joy in their laughter and playfulness.

Summer's adventurous spirit was matched only by her love for nature, especially the ocean and the river. There was no greater joy for her than sitting by or floating in the water, allowing its beauty to soak into her soul. She also had a love for the lake spending many summers there from a young age. She practically grew up in her life jacket, along with her brother Jeremiah. They loved playing and swimming in the water. Summer was a free spirit. Like the wind that dances through a field of wildflowers, she was fierce yet calming, lifting the spirits of those around her with her contagious light and warmth. Her love for nature mirrored her own soul: untamed, beautiful, and so full of life.

Summer Dawn loved the Lord, and her faith was a cornerstone of who she was. Her mother often reflects how Summer was her Sunflower Child- radiating light, love, warmth, and beauty wherever she went. Summer was deeply loved by her family and numerous friends alike. Summer valued her relationships and put her family and friendships above all else. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will never be forgotten!

Summer is survived by her loving husband Casey Palmer, her children Casey Wayne Jr., Ian Maurice, and Leigha Paige Palmer of Seguin, TX; her mother, Daina Bell Norton and stepfather, Harold Norton and Dathin Norton of Farwell, TX; her father, Roy McPherson, of Clovis, NM; her grandparents Don and Harriet Bell, of Clovis, NM; her brothers, Jeremiah James McPherson (Jennifer), Jobe Allen Mack Toliver of Clovis, NM, Jonathan Tyler Davis (Kayla) of Seguin, TX, J-Lee Burrow (Nicole James) of Colorado Springs, CO; aunts Rhonda (Matt Murray), and Christy Hughes of Clovis, NM, Vicki Reithel of Chicago, Jana (Aaron Halton) of Hendersonville, NC; one Great-Aunt, Sandy Bell, of Panhandle, TX; one Great-Uncle, Gary Bell (Barbie), of Clovis, NM. As well as a host of nieces and nephews, cousins,

and many dear friends that she loved and that were blessed to have been in her life.

Summer was reunited in Heaven with her deceased grandparents Peggy and Donald McPherson, great-grandparents M.E. (Fud) and Mary Bell, her great-grandparents Allan and Marilyn Collins, and great-grandparents LaVerne and Sherlton Collins; also her cousins Alexis Camile Reithel and April Nichelle Reithel.

Summer Dawn's spirit lives on in all the hearts that knew her. She will forever be

remembered as a woman of fierce love, boundless kindness, and unwavering spirit. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever dance in the wind, and her bright light will continue to shine on us all.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Summer Dawn is pending until a later date.

Summy D. These past weeks I have been burying and running away from my emotions because I don´t want to feel the pain of the reality that you are not here with us anymore. But it´s real, you´re not here and rivers flow from my eyes and heart. I think about your laugh, your smile and it warms me. I think about all the good times and the fun and the bond we created, sisterhood. I think about the time that I could have spent with you towards the end of your life and I have regret. Regret that I didn´t get those extra hugs and conversations. I wish we could´ve taken our weekend beach trip. I know that we would have cried together and laughed together and made beautiful memories just like the ones that we have created throughout all the past years. You are the one person who knows everything about me. I miss you. I love you. I know that you are happy and whole with Jesus. That´s the only thing that keeps me sane. You are so precious Summer and I wish that I was talking to you instead of writing on here... my beautiful, wonderful, loving fun, witty Summy D...

Summer you were wild and beautiful like the flash of the sunset on blue ocean water. Like the wind blowing through a wild horse's hair as they run free. Your magic was like the sparkle on a butterfly wing as it flaps gently resting on the blossom of a flower. Your heart was fierce and powerful like a hummingbird's wings. The beauty of the light of your soul shines like the morning sun reflecting off of the sparkles of a winter snow. Your laughter was like the joy that only wonder and awe can relate. Your friendship was like that of a gift from God. Until we meet again I will carry your spark in my heart along with so many others whose lives you touched.

Summer and I were at the lake for the weekend with our kids and when it was time to leave, we couldn´t find her keys anywhere. We looked all over the place for hours! We ended up leaving her car there and driving back in mine and when we got home, Summer went to get ready for a shower and then... PLOP! Her keys fell out of her bra! We laughed so hard.

So one summer day Summer Lori and myself were at the lake with our kids and we were just swimming and jumping from the rocks into the water and you know just having fun. Well me and Lori were in the water and waiting for summer to have her turn jumping in. Mind you these were just the more shallow parts with the more ground level rocks to jump from but anyhow so we were watching and rooting Summer on and so there she was her hand holding her nose as she takes a deep breath and she goes for the jump! The next thing you know there is Summer standing straight up flat on her feet still holding her nose with the water only as high as her mid thigh!! LOL!!! We were all three just dying laughing... omg it was so funny and I still crack up every time I think about it!!

I am sad! The feeling of time as it tics is different...although it had been awhile since I had visited you just knowing you were around secured my feelings when I would think about you. I wish I would have visited more often. I miss you Summer and now when I think of you my feelings are secure in knowing that you are resting so peacefully in the arms of the Lord! I love you!
