Dear Martha and Family
Betty and I were so saddened to hear of Bob's death. Over the years (since the mid 1970's) I had the distinct privilege of getting to know you and Bob through his work, and through the love you both showed to me as a guest in your home. Bob had such a good laugh, which required so little to bring forth. He was always ready to come speak at one of our meetings or share his findings in so many ways. As a tribute to him and as a gift to all of us it would be fitting if everyone would purchase a copy of his "reflections from a hospital bed". You have to know that his book truly inspired me as I saw how solution-oriented he was throughout his whole life. Our appreciation for Bob and our love for you.

Dear Martha, Patty, Fred, Pauline and "Baby",

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing, yet by every measure he seems to have lived an wonderful and extraordinary life.

Just thinking of him and all of our next door neighbors brings back a lot of great memories. I'll never forget the lake, Fred's motorcycle, "Tony or Mr. Muttle", all of the families in the lake crowd getting together... and on and on.

Love all you guys -such fantastic neighbors and friends -and will never forget "Bob".

Peace

Dear Martha,
All who knew "Bob" mourn his passing. He was a steady friend, an inspiring mentor of his students, and a pillar of scientific respectability in the earliest days of the University of Miami School of Medicine. Outstanding faculty recruits were attracted by his presence here, and his impact on the evolution and development of this institution became magnified as each successive wave of scientists and physicians built the outstanding School that exists today. Memories of him are a comfort now for us as we extend our condolences to you and your family.

Dearest Martha: You've been most fortunate to have partnered for life with 'Bob'. I know your loss is great. You need to know how many people he touched. He was a perfect 'mentor' to all. Bob is now at peace, no doubt being rewarded in the hereafter for his exemplary life. He was loved by all. He is with us still.

I consider Bob and Martha among my dearest friends. Bob and I worked together in the Department of Dermatology from 1969 to 2002. Bob and I spend many hours together in meetings and lectures and Martha, Bob, and Bonnie and I occasionally partied together. One of my fondest memories is Bob's 80th birthday party at the Biltmore Hotel. In our later years in the department, Bob no longer drove his car. I would pick him up and we would attend departmental events together.
Please accept my condolences Martha and family and my apology for not being able to attend the funeral. Martha, you and Bob will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. Dick Taylor
