Supt. E.A. Edwards
Supt. Erven Arnett Edwards, age 77, resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Monday, September 16, 2019 in University of Arkansas for Medical Science, Little Rock. He was born to Arnett Edwards and Lucile Stringer on July 16, 1942 in Calhoun County, Arkansas.
He graduated from Calhoun County High School in Thornton, Arkansas and studied Accounting at Cossatot Vocational-Technical School. He worked at Weyerhaeuser Treating Plant in De Queen, Arkansas in capacities as, laborer, shipping, and supervisor for approximately 25 years, retiring in 1999.
Superintendent Edwards received his license in ministry in 1966 and ordained in 1969. He was appointed pastor of Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ in 1969 and has served faithfully for 50 years. He also pastored for a number of year at Foreman COGIC and Hendrix Temple COGIC in Blevins, AR. He has dedicated his life to the work of the lord He has been the hands, the feet, the voice, and the love of God expressed in many different ways. He also served as Chaplain for MarketPlace Ministries for approximately 25 years providing Employee Care Service to client employees and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Jabori Arnett Edwards, and two great-grandsons, Bryceton Neil Canon and Kingston Scott.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Betty Edwards of De Queen, Arkansas; 6 Children: Rosalind (Carl) Fricks, Sharon (Larry) Craig of Bearden, Arkansas, Maria (LeRoy) Nelson of Horatio, Arkansas, Charlotte (Carlton) Malvin, of Little Rock, Jerome (Aundria) Edwards, of De Queen and Lavelle (Veronica) Edwards of Little Rock, Arkansas. Arkansas. He also has 2 brothers; Dennis (Jessie) Edwards of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and Donald Edwards of Horatio, Arkansas, 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, 1 Aunt, Francis Stringer-Sawyer and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, spiritual sons and daughter, and self-adopted children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Supt. E.A. Edwards will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the De Queen First Baptist Church with Bishop Robert Rudolph officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family invites the public to Vigil which will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., Friday, September 20th, at the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ, De Queen.
