Susan Blower Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2016.
On this 24th day of December, 2016, the final line and chapter in the book of life for Susan "Sue" Jane (Fink) Blower, a resident of Archdale was written and closed. She passed on to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior and her mother and father after a very courageous battle with cancer. Sue was born April 5, 1962 in Reading, PA the daughter of the Charles Edwin and Theresa Florence (Nanartowicz) Fink.

Sue was raised in Hamburg Pennsylvania and graduated from Hamburg area Junior and Senior High School, a member of the Class of 1980. She then attended and graduated from the Clarissa School of Fashion Design in Pittsburgh PA, receiving her pattern making certificate. She was a fashion design major and was fortunate enough to have been able to model some of the designs she created.

Sue began her working career after returning home to Hamburg in several retail stores in the capacity of customer service and customer service manager. She did so for several years and it was during this time she met the Love of her Life, Bud. Sue also worked for many years at Sovereign Bank, in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania as a customer service representative, customer service manager and lastly in the accounting department.
Sue and Bud married on July 27th, 1985 and from this union of love came a son Patrick Martin Blower, born June the 15th of 1992. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in
January 2015, on a 5 day trip to Antigua knowing that they may not have the opportunity to do so in July. Sue worked part-time while Patrick was young and focused her time and energy's on her family. She officially "retired" from her work in banking just prior to relocating to North Carolina due to a job transfer for Bud.

After moving to North Carolina, Sue's full time job became her family; her church and community volunteer involvement. She spent endless hours being "grade mom" for many years while Patrick was in elementary school. She also served on the homeowners association of her community, and she and her family fostered many golden retrievers for the Triad Golden Retriever Rescue.

As a member of Covenant Church United Methodist in High Point, she served as an usher, communion server, greeter, was instrumental in forming a bereavement team and a care team, prepared meals for those in need and she enjoyed helping to fold bulletins for Sunday services and monthly newsletters. Sue loved her church and considered her "church" family.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, mother 1971 and father 1988. She is survived by her husband Howard S. "Bud" Blower who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to her husband Bud is her son, Patrick M. Blower of Rural Hall, NC; her four legged golden retriever sons Simon and Oscar, also survives are three sisters, Charlene E. Ottinger and husband Joe of Allentown, PA, Brenda L. Payne and husband Paul of Bloomsburg, PA, Regina M. Clauss of Lake Ariel, PA; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Wiltrout, Lindsay Ottinger and husband Dan Swavely, Molly Payne, David Clauss, Andrew Clauss; great nieces, Ava Madison & Mila Swavely; and her only surviving aunt and uncle Helene Petelenz and her husband Ron Wilkinson; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Blower and many close friends too numerous to name.

Special Thanks to the following whose care made this journey Sue travelled a little easier and brighter. Dr. James Granfortuna, Dr. Gary Sherrill, Dr. Steven Hendrickson for helping to save her life, Dr. Gregory Waters for changing her life, Dr. Kalpen Patel for always encouraging her to continue making memories, PA Paul Craft for the care, support, and understanding and Dr. Annie Reid for her care and compassion and being more than a dentist to her. And the nursing staff at the Cone Health Cancer Center for all of their care and compassion.

A Service to Celebrate Sue's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Covenant Church United Methodist, 1526 Skeet Club Rd., High Point, NC 27265 conducted by the Reverend Michelle Foster-Beckerleg. The family will receive friends following the service. Since this is a celebration of Sue's life she requested that no black be worn to mourn her passing, but instead bright colors especially purple to celebrate a life well lived although taken to soon.

Sue loved to serve others and it is her wish that those attending her service bring a canned or boxed good to be donated to the food pantry at Ward Street Community Resources and/or make a memorial in Sue's memory to one the following; Red Card Cancer.org, an organization her brother-in –law Paul Payne created in memory of a friend, for cancer research and is affiliated with the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at John Hopkin's in Maryland, Triad Golden Retriever Rescue.org, Ward Street Community Resources, P O Box 1906, High Point NC 27261, Covenant Church 1526 Skeet Club Road, High Point , NC 27265.

Live and live well, laugh often and always remember at any given moment you have the power to say "this is not how the story is going to end". Enjoy each day as if it were your last.

I just found out ( entirely by accident) about Sue this evening. I realize that my journey through cancer had just begun when Sue passed. I am indescribably sad that I didn't know and couldn't offer help, a hug or a prayer with you and Patrick.
Please know that my memories of Sue will always be of her incredible laugh, sense of humor and her light. Such a light!!!

I had no idea Sue had left this earth until today. I am so glad she was a Christian. I thought of her often. We also were neighbors and classmates growing up. I pass her old house sometimes when walking the dog and it's sad knowing the Finks aren't there anymore. I am so glad she had a wonderful life and a good family and church and friends. We will meet again some day Sue. I promise!

Sue became my dear neighbor and friend when I moved to North Carolina. We shared so many good times. Sue was an amazing, loving person. Her life had such purpose in her enduring love for Bud, Patrick, family and friends. I will miss you Sue. I know how you loved my chicken pot pie....we can share that again in heaven. With all my love. Bonnie Leet

Bud and Patrick, the loss of Sue is the loss of a warm and wonderful light in this world, or so it would seem. But in truth, her light is still here in the treasured memories she left with us all. I greatly treasure the chats we shared on so many topics and will miss her musings and encouragements. Our prayers are with you. May you Bud, Patrick, and the "boys" Oscar and Simon find peace and strength.

Bud and Patrick, we never had the good fortune of meeting, but please accept my sincere sympathy. And I extend my heartfelt condolences to Gina, Brenda & Char.

I am very sorry to learn of Sue's passing, and wish the pathways of our adult lives had crossed. Sue was a classmate and great friend of mine in elementary school. With fondness, I look back on how we'd often meet midway between our houses on Yoder Heights Road, sometimes ending our long visits with a sleepover - usually with more talking than sleeping.
Unfortunately our lives drifted apart after leaving Hamburg, but I never stopped thinking about her. Even my children know of my good childhood friend, Sue Fink. It's comforting to read about Sue's adult years, affirming that she continued as a wonderful confidante to many others. I am fortunate to have shared in her friendship, and know she's a friend to all in heaven too.

Forever in my heart and prayers,

Clem, Linda Richardson

Bud,
Wishing God's comfort for you and your family. It's difficult at such a time to know what words to say. But may God be with you always to sustain you day by day. May it console you to know that others care. Think of you warmly, and in every prayer. I'm asking God to bless you with courage to bear, the sorrow that now fills your hearts.

In Christian Sympathy
May your hearts find comfort at this time of loss.. And may God direct you in His new purposes for your lives.

Sue was a wonderful person. I enjoyed the time we worked together at Sovereign Bank (accounting department). I looked forward to her annual holiday letters.

I know this time of the year did not make her passing easy. Just think of it this way. Sue spent her first Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I want to share this letter with you. It helps me around the holidays when I think of the Loved ones that have passed.

My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees, around the world below,
With tiny lights like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular; please wipe away your tears,
For I am sharing Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the may Christmas songs, that people hold so dear,
The sounds of music can't compare, with the Christmas Choir here.
I have no words to tell you the joy their voices bring,
It's far beyond description to hear the Angles Sing.

I know how much you miss me. I see the pain within your heart,
But I am not so far away. We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, loved ones. You know I hold you dear,
And be gland I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory, of my undying love.
After all "LOVE" is the gift, more precious than gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as our Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessings, or the love he has for you,
So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away those tears,
For I am sharing Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hope this letter gives you and your family comfort like it gives me every holiday season.

Love
Tammy Sweigart

thankyou for posting a photo gallery of Sue's adult life on this site. She sure looks like her mom, and it made me think of Terry, and realize how many years she's been gone. And also, through the photo gallery, I enjoyed seeing pictures of Bud for the first time, and then - watch Patrick growing through his adolescent years, in addition to the annual Photo Christmas cards Sue sent each year... My prayers for comfort and peace - are still with all of you as you continue on and adjust to Sue not being here.... loving thoughts to everyone, Lindie Fink Gibson / Montana

Knowing sue is in a better place and no longer in pain is of some comfort. Knowing she has touched and been a factor in people's lives does not replace the loss but it is a huge source of consolation. I know heaven is a much better place because she is there. That smile of hers I'm sure will be used by god as a source of sunshine for everyone. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless

Fond words still left unspoken
Our grieving tears flow unbroken
Flowers left to mark the grave
Ne'er reveal what Susan gave

Love and kindness through the years
Dispelled her recent suffering and fears
She lived her life without regret
Left us memories we won't forget

How can we best express our deep affections?
All she meant to us; our very best reflections
Recounting sentiments of her joy for life
And how she allayed our own daily strife

Let us gather now in pensive celebration
Lift our hearts; express our new elation
The sorrow and remorse we will replace
For we know that Susan's now in God's embrace

Sometimes the most beautiful roses are harvested first. I was shocked to hear of the loss of this special woman. Sue was the epitome of wife, mother, and Christian woman. Over the years she extended the hand of kindness to me and so many in her own quiet, unassuming way. Bud and Patrick, I cannot imagine your loss. Thank you for sharing a piece of her with all of us who knew her.

I'M VERY SORRY TO HEAR OF THE PASSING OF SUE. BUD, PATRICK, AND ALL FAMILY MEMBERS ARE IN MY PRAYERS TONIGHT. SUE AND I SHARED A COMMON BOND, TWO PEOPLE WHO REALLY DIDN'T KNOW EACH OTHER BUT I ALMOST PASSED AWAY WITH A HEART ATTACK ABOUT THE SAME TIME SHE BECAME SICK. AFTER THAT WHEN WE SAW EACH OTHER MOSTLY IN CHURCH WE WOULD ALWAYS MAKE A POINT TO SAY HELLO BECAUSE WE BOTH KNEW SOMETHING SERIOUS WAS NOT RIGHT WITH THESE EARTHLY BODIES. THE LAST TIME I SAW HER IN CHURCH SHE AS USUAL WAS SMILING AND WE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED TO LIVE FOR TODAY WAS GREAT BUT WHEN WE ARE CALLED HOME WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY IT WILL BE. I ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS WILL MISS THIS LADY, AND LIKE OTHERS I ALSO FEEL THE GRIEF TONIGHT OF HER PASSING.

Although Sue left us far too soon, we can find comfort in the promise found in Psalm 33:17 " Mine eyes shall see the King in His beauty; they shall behold the land that is afar off." My sincere sympathies to Bud and Patrick, as well as Char, Brenda, and Gina....

I am standing by the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch
until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sun and sky come down to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes!
Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all.

She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the places of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says,
'There she goes! ',
there are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout :
'Here she comes!'
