Jeannie Lai Gong

Jeannie Gong of Sacramento passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Golden Heritage Living in San Jose, California. She was 95 years old. Born Lai Fong Auyeung on August 27, 1920 in a Chinese Village of Fah Yuen. She married James Gong in 1938 where their three daughters were born. In 1955, Jeannie joined her husband in California, where he immigrated to America in 1948. Their last three children were born in San Francisco, Turlock and Sacramento, where they finally settled in 1959. Jeannie was a homemaker and worked summers at the Del Monte Cannery in Sacramento. Jeannie and James created a Chinese immigrant success story who wanted better life for their children. With lots of hard work, they made many necessary sacrifices to achieve a better life for her children and future generation to come. She was loved and will always be in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2004. Survivors include her two sons, Ray Gong of San Diego, and Harry Gong of San Rafael; four daughters Jane and Jose Auyeung of Sacramento, Tina and Frank Chong of Ceres, Monica and Herman Suryoutomo of Fremont, and Mabel Gong and Bobby Parent of Lafayette, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 5 - 7 p.m. with the funeral services on Sunday, May 29th at 10 a.m. at the Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, California 95125 Bus. 408-297-2447.
