I always admired the way Susan lived and loved her life. From a Blues Brothers lip sync in the Mikana Town Hall to entertaining international personalities in her home, she made it look easy because I think she just really enjoyed it all. When I waved her thru in the parade last 4th of July, she gave me a thumb's up and that's how I see her now. Bye,Susan....you will be missed.

Dear Jim, Patrick & Christian,
I am writing from Iowa, a relative of the Harker family. I met Sue when she lived in Spencer, and remember Patrick and Christian as infants. As a young woman, Sue was so "hip" and fun. She was definetly "cool" and had a great sense of style and flair. As a youngster I watched her every move. Reading the previous guest book entries, I see she continued to be fun and spunky, sensitive and kind. And boy, she was one smart cookie. Her legacy continues in all of you.
Take care-

Jim, Christian and Patrick,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Susan's death. She was a great Mom, gardener and friend. Christian spent a lot of time at our home with our son, Jon and Jon spent lots of time at your home. I'll never forget the school project that Jon and Chris worked on for days and days at your house. Susan was a loving advisor on this project and many others.
My 80 yr. old mother still talks about how Jim and Susan raved about the home grown radishes that she and Dad brought to Jon's graduation party. You and Susan were always like that, Jim-you appreciated the little things in life! We loved that about you both!
We are sending a hug to all of you at this sad time. Susan will certainly be missed here on Earth-obviously the gardens in heaven needed tending! She loved new challenges!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Jim, Patrick, Christian, Meaghann and all of Susan's family,

What a gift Susan was to all who knew and loved her. Thank you for sharing her with me. Her accomplishments were many; her enthusiasm was infectious; her sense of humor was contagious; her entertainment skills were second to none; but most of all, what a WOMAN! How many fond memories I have of Red Cedar Lake, and Long the Way Lodge. Transforming the historic Bauerhaus into a magnificent masterpiece to create, through Susan, her gardens, her horses, parties, her dogs, Jim's prized tomato plants, Susan's gorgeous shoes, her wet hair, attention to detail - memories - nothing but marvelous memories of a beautiful friend. Susan loved and lived life to its fullest. What a gift we all shared. She lives on through all her knew her. Susan, thank you for the memories.
