April 24, 1947 - February 14, 2024

QUINCY, Illinois - Susan Conklin, age 76, passed away on February 14, 2024, in Quincy, Illinois. She was born on April 24, 1947, in Davenport, IA, to the late Loren "Butch" Gelhaar and Lucille "Lucy" Gelhaar. Susan was the beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Conklin.

Susan will be lovingly remembered by her stepchildren: Stephen (Susan) Conklin and Nancy Conklin, her sons: Robert (Sarah) Conklin and Jason (Heather-Lee) Conklin, her daughter: Amanda (Alessandro) Conklin, her grandchildren: Brooke, Madeline, Dylan, Nicholas, Jonah, Sophia, Beck, Tobias, Juniper, and Sylvan, her niece: Anne (Eric) Martin, her nephews: David (Lisa) Gelhaar and Jimmy Gelhaar, and her beloved pet cats Sparkle and Tom "Tommy" Baker.

Susan pursued higher education at Dutchess Community College and SUNY Purchase, where she honed her knowledge and skills.

A memorial service celebrating Susan's life will be held on Sunday, February 18th, at 4:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 321 Main St, Carthage, IL 62321.

In lieu of flowers, the Conklin family kindly requests that donations be made to the Carthage Public Library. Susan firmly believed that knowledge promotes wisdom and equality, and should be accessible to all. Contributions can be made at https://www.carthagepubliclibrary.com/library-foundation.html
