Susan Marie Del Ponte

Susan Marie Del Ponte, beloved wife and mother, peacefully passed at Saint Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 12, 2022. She was 58.

Susan was born in Bridgeport, on August 18, 1964, to Alfred and Lucille DuHaime and was the youngest of six children. From birth, Susan's health presented challenges. Born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, Susan had limited use of her legs and underwent multiple surgeries at Shriners Hospital for Children before the age of five. Undeterred, Susan and her family made sure that her disability would not prevent her from living the fullest life possible.

She received a degree in Media Studies from Sacred Heart University in 1986, where she met her husband, Fausto. Susan and Fausto were married in 1990 while Susan was working for several companies as a communication specialist. She left the workforce with the birth of their daughter, Tessa, in 1994 to pursue the full-time profession of motherhood. In 2001, they were blessed with the birth of their second child, Avery.

She loved cooking, was skilled with crochet hooks, and was a connoisseur of perfumes. It wasn't unusual for Susan to pass by a total stranger and turn to ask, "Excuse me, is that [name of perfume] you're wearing? It smells great on you." She was rarely wrong.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Evelyn and is survived by her husband Fausto; their children Tessa and Avery; her sisters Carol and Dail; her brothers Fred and Alfred; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Saint Andrews RC Church, 395 Anton Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606, followed by burial at Mountain Grove Cemetery - Easton (Located at the end of Harvester Road in Trumbull, Connecticut.)

Flowers may be sent to the church or donations in her memory can be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
