Just heard about this. I am truly sorry for the families loss. She was an accessional person and gave her all to her profession. I appreciate her nd all that she accomplished. She saved my life back when and I will forever be grateful. May she be with us always.

Dr Eicher helped my Uncle, Billy Doyle Smith, with everything she had. My uncle had a very devistating form of cancer, he was only 1 of 6 on earth at the time who had ever had this diagnosis. Dr Eicher went beyond the accepted boundaries of medicine to save my Uncle Bill, she gave it everything she had, so did he. We had my uncle for approximately 10 years, the expectancy of his illness was approximately 6 months. I wish I had thought to meet her, so I could thank her .

Susan was my classmate at Baylor, and also chose otolaryngology as her career. I remember rotating on Dr. Alford´s service with her, or in her shadow of brilliance and hard work. We had a great time, she inspired me to work harder and be better and I made her laugh.
I was so sorry to hear of her passing and hope her family and friends are comforted by their happy memories.

Susan was my roommate for three years at BCM. She was an amazingly driven person and she studied so hard. But Friday night she would go to her boyfriend´s place and watch MASH. Otherwise it was study, swim, study, sleep, and repeat. Her mom would call hoping to catch her to discuss wedding details but Mrs Eicher would often be stuck talking to me instead. She was a force of nature, but a quiet one. No one was surprised when she was the DeBakey scholar. I´m so sad that her career ended not on her terms May her memory always be a blessing

Dr. Eicher cared for my dad in 2004, and he adored her (my whole family did). She was so compassionate and he loved her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Dr. Eicher led us to the perfect oncologist and helped us start the journey for my dad's homegoing. She was a very special person, and I am so very sorry for your loss.

Susan Eicher saved my life with surgery in 2006 and we became close friends. She was so dedicated and diligent in her work. When I expressed awe for her accomplishments she brushed it off and humbly said, "It's surgery, and it's what I do." And she did it exceptionally well and saved thousands of lives. She was loved by patients and respected by her medical peers. She will be missed by many and irreplacable for those who loved her and those who worked with her. Through tears I say goodbye, but with love I will remember and admire her always.

Susan literally was a major part of saving my life in 2003-stage 4 cancer. She referred to me as her miracle patient. We also became friends over the years.
Through tears I say thank you Susan and we shall miss you!

Dr. Eicher loved spending time at Girl Scout Camp Casa Mare, and I'd like to share a photo of the view she enjoyed so much. She always seemed to have time to answer a call for help, and she has made a difference in the lives of thousands of girls through the years. Grief can be so hard, but our fond memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

One of my favorite memories that I have of my Aunt Susan was one when I was 11 or 12 years old at the time. This particular memory involves her first two dogs Copper and Shadow. I remember hanging out with her that afternoon before spending time with my grandparents later that evening. We were at the house hanging out and Susan goes, "Hey you wanna see something?"
I go "Yeah!"
She went over to the back door, and swung it open and hollered "Squirrel!"
Copper and Shadow proceeded to bolt out into the backyard in an attempt to catch the squirrel before it dashed up the tree. So the end result was Squirrel 1, dogs 0.
I love you Aunt Susan!
