Susan Heppenstall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2025.
Susan K. Heppenstall (née Kyle), 90, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, in Wheaton, Illinois.

Born on July 1, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Susan was the daughter of William J. and Mary C. Kyle. After graduating from The Ellis School in Pittsburgh she went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Following a successful career in real estate, Susan retired and focused on her true passion, her family. Susan cared deeply for and about her family. She became fondly known as the family matriarch. Those close to her would also agree that if cleanliness is next to godliness, then Susan is likely well on her way to sainthood! In addition to her family, Susan enjoyed many wonderful friendships, cherishing lifelong connections and new friends alike.

She is survived by her children, C. Talbot Heppenstall, Jr., Mark E. Heppenstall (Constance), and Leslie H. Slott (Casey); her sisters, Anne K. Matthews (Harry) and Jane K. Willock (Robert); as well as 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles T. Heppenstall.

Susan's warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A Light for Zimbabwe. The charity, founded by her dear sister-in-law Sue Heppenstall, is focused on the betterment of the lives of people in Southeastern Zimbabwe. https://www.alightforzimbabwe.org/
