Susan Orkies Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
Susan Marie Orkies, 59, passed peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of August 15, 2025, in Seattle, Washington, while awaiting a much-deserved vacation adventure.

She will be lovingly remembered by her longtime partner, Tim Faulkner; daughter, Michelle McCracken; granddaughter, Amber McCullough; mother, Darice Linden; brother, Terry (Terri) Dambrowski; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She now joins her youngest daughter, Sheana Orkies; her husband of many years, Daniel Orkies; her father, Robert "Bob" Dambrowski; and her grandparents, Emil and Naomi Ignelzi and the Dambrowski family.

Born in Michigan in April 1966, Susan settled in Dunnellon, Florida in 1997, after brief chapters in Kentucky and California.

Barefoot with a Diet Pepsi in hand, Susan was far more than another pretty face with a love for horses. Her intelligence and patience made her a formidable force in legal matters-once winning a case against an insurance company without any assistance from an attorney. Her wit and humor were healing balms, often distracting from the physical and emotional pains of the world. She was the steel force that held her loved ones up when everything seemed to crumble beneath them. She gave her all to those she loved-and loved in a way that made you feel invincible.

In her younger years, she was a bartender and briefly modeled. Later, she built a career in medical financing, eventually becoming a Director. Her world was shattered in 2003 after losing her youngest daughter and longtime husband in a tragic car accident involving a drunk driver. Yet, with time and quiet strength, she rebuilt herself-venturing into software engineering, launching her own consulting business, raising cattle for beef, managing rental properties, and running several small businesses. She was accomplished, resilient, and a powerful influence to those who knew her.

Susan's legacy lives on in the land she loved, the family she lifted, and the quiet grace she carried through every storm.

I never had the honor of meeting you, but I knew your mother-and through her, I felt the warmth and strength of your entire family. She loved you with her whole heart and more. She didn´t just speak of you with affection, but with deep respect for the woman you became: strong, grounded, and admired.

Your time here was far too short, but I believe you were called home because heaven needed someone just like you. Know this-those you left behind are surrounded by love, and your memory lives fiercely in them. You will never be forgotten. You are forever cherished.
