Susan Owenhouse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 17 to Apr. 19, 2009.
Susan Marie Owenhouse, 43, died Monday, April 13, 2009 after a battle with a rare auto-immune disease called primary sclerosis cholangitis.

Susan was born Jan. 31, 1966, in Bozeman, and lived her entire life in Bozeman, a place she loved to call home. She graduated from Bozeman Senior High School in 1984 and then received her degree in elementary education from Montana State University in 1988.

From early childhood, she had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and impacted many lives for Him. Her passions in life were her faith, her family, her marriage, and her friends. She leaves a remarkable legacy of faith in her four children, and many others who crossed her path.

She married Jay Owenhouse on July 24, 1987, and had four children, John (18), Peter (17), Juliana (14), and Christina (5). While her main focus was on raising her children, she also partnered with Jay in creating his magic show, and also worked in her family's construction business, Clair W. Daines, Inc. She was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and also involved in Young Life. Though we must continue to live by faith, we are comforted in knowing that Susan's faith has now become sight, as she is in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
There are many in the family remaining who are looking forward to joining Susan in heaven including the love of her life, Jay Owenhouse; her children; her parents, Clair and Sharon Daines of Bozeman; Jay's parents, Jim and Ella May Owenhouse of Bozeman; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Cindy Daines of Bozeman, along with their children, David, Annie, Michael, and Caroline; her sister and brother-in-law, Christie and Rob Piacesi of Falls Church, Va., and their daughter, Maria Christine; her sister-in-law and husband, Mary Ann and Bob Noack of Lake Oswego, Ore., and their children, Adam and Spencer; grandmothers, Margaret Erickson of Issaquah, Wash., and Marriet Daines of Billings; along with many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Grace Bible Church.

Memorials in her name may be sent to Compassion International (www.compassion.com); or to the Owenhouse Children's College Fund, c/o American Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 3506, Bozeman 59772-3506.

Susan was in my highschool class of '84. I would see her from time to time when she came into Macy's to shop. It was such a shock to hear of her illness and passing into another realm of consciousness where her soul lives on. My deepest condolences to her family...And what a beautiful picture of her!

So sorry to hear of Susan's passing. I first met Susan in Mrs. Thorson's 5th grade class. She was a beautiful even then, and grew more beautiful with each passing year. Her smile had the warmth of the sun. I feel lucky to have known her. Condolences to you all.

An old song concluded, "We'll say 'Goodnight' here but 'Good morning' up there" Someday we'll all join in the 'Good morning'. What a joy to know that Susan has already joined that happy chorus.

Susan was a ray of light. She was beautiful, generously kind when it mattered, and I'm certain she was a patient mother. My deep condolences to the entire Daines and Owenhouse families.

The Lord Jesus Christ is here to comfort you all. Remembering Susan from memories of the past surely will also help sustain you all as you move on in days ahead. I will always have fond memories of chats with Susan at BSF, and her unforgetable and vivacious smile when waving at her as we crossed paths. Continue to seek the Lord in times of loneliness and know that Susan is looking on you from heaven in all you do. I know her spirit will continue to live in all who knew her well and for those of us who made an acquaintance with her, for she made such an impact on those whom she came in contact with. For that, I am thankful I had a chance to know a part of her. Our family extends our heartfelt condolences going out to ALL her families.
