Susan Pollard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 22 to Apr. 24, 2022.
Susan J. (Murray) Pollard passed away at home on April 17, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Born on December 1, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Murray and beloved wife of Thomas Pollard, to whom she was married for over 35 years.
Born in Lowell and raised in Westford, MA, Susan graduated from Westford Academy, and worked at several area companies, including Data Resources Inc, until taking an early retirement to pursue her passion for dogs. She raised, bred, and showed papillons for years, winning many championships while traveling the country and making new friends in the dog show world. Twenty-one years ago, Susan shifted her focus to whippets, and began to make inroads into a different arena of dog shows. She continued to win championships, make new friends, and travel to different areas of the country to show off her dogs. She loved traveling in her motor home from show to show, but was always happy to return home to Townsend, MA.
When not caring for her own dogs, she developed a pet-sitting business caring for others' animals-dogs, cats, birds, even chickens. Again, during this experience, she made more friends who stayed in touch long after their business relationship ended.
Susan was a charter member of the Carriage House gang and never lost her love of friends, laughter, shopping and wine. She enjoyed travel of all sorts, and she and her husband shared many memorable vacations, from the Canadian Rockies to Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed visiting New England coast, especially Nubble Light, and was always ready for an adventure. She lived a full life and brought joy to those who knew her.
Susan was the sister of Edward Murray and the late Patricia Holmes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her nephew, Jeffrey Quigly and several cousins, including Maureen Latta, Diane George, and Elaine O'Callaghan. She is also survived by many close friends who will remember her always.
Per Susan's request, there will be no services. Donations in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.

Susan was my favorite cousin. We spent our younger years together, but as time when by we were separated by circumstances....me having 4 children, Susan breeding her dogs. We still kept in touch throughout the years, laughing and sharing our experiences. Susan, I will miss you so much. God bless you. Maureen

Life and dog shows are not nearly as fun without Sue's happy presence. I have known few people who were as positive and lived life as fully as Sue. She will be missed by many.

The loss of one so full of life makes no sense. Sue was here for a short time, but her impact will never be forgotten.
