Susan Ramsay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 19 to Nov. 20, 2002.
Susan Patrice Ramsay, 54, died peacefully at her home in Woodbury, Minn., Nov.18, 2002, following a courageous eighth month battle against the recurrence of breast cancer. Sue was born on April 11, 1948, in Duluth, and was a 1966 graduate of Denfeld High School. During her career, Sue co-owned the charming Duluth boutique 'Sky's the Limit' prior to relocating to Dallas, Texas. Upon return to Minnesota, Sue obtained a position with ECOLAB at their corporate office in St. Paul, and advanced to Executive Assistant to the President and Chief Operating Officer. Sue had the unique ability to close the distance between people with her beautiful warm smile, and sincere personality. Through all adversity, Sue always maintained and projected to others a positive outlook on life. For rest and relaxation, Sue thoroughly enjoyed summer weekends at the lake, vacations to the Mexican Riviera, and visits with friends and family. Her smile, and laughter will remain always in our minds and hearts. The family wishes to express its thanks to the many friends and caregivers for providing their prayers and support to Sue over the past several months. She is preceded in death by sister, Linda Verdoljak, maternal grandmother Marion Pollock Willis, and paternal grandparents Matthew B. and Katherine L. Verdoljak. Sue leaves behind her parents Anthony J. and Mildred D. Verdoljak of Duluth; Thomas A. Lund, her best friend and partner of 11 years. She also leaves behind her sister Jeanne (Ronald) Koneczny, a brother Scott (Roberta) Verdoljak all of Duluth, and a brother Peter (Barbara) Verdoljak of Cerritos, Calif; three nieces, Anastasia Verdoljak, Tanya Verdoljak and Andrea Verdoljak; four nephews Reuben Verdoljak, Anthony Verdoljak, Todd (Edie) Koneczny, and Jerry (Cammi) Koneczny; a grandnephew, Logan Koneczny; aunts, uncles, cousins and their extended families, as well as many dear friends. SERVICE:7 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Thompson-Dougherty Mansion, 2535 Park Ave., Minneapolis, Minn., preceded by a visitation beginning at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, in Duluth from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Wake Prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd St. and one hour prior to the 11:30 a.m. funeral service on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, it is requested memorials be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

I am so sad to hear about Sue's death. I visited with her at our last class reunion. Throughout her life, she was a kind and considerate person.I can't remember Sue ever saying an unkind word about anyone. The good die young. My heartfelt sympathy to Tom and her whole family. May God give you strength and peace.

Sincerely,

I had the pleasure of meeting Susie when she lived in Dallas. I have very fond memories of spending time with her during the warm summer days and enjoying hours of conversation. She was a beautiful person in every way--her smile was most memorable. She had an amazing outlook on life and just would not let anything take away her smile. She always managed to cheer me up. I am sure she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

In the fall of 1990, I had the great fortune to meet Suzi in Dallas. We became very close friends. Over the years we shared the greatest times together, even if we could only visit by phone. She instantly lifted my spirits when I was down. We could chat for hours and laugh about most anything even during the toughest times. I remember how happy she was when she met Tom at her high school reunion and they fell in love. Her eyes sparkled when she spoke of him and her family and many friends. Suzi was joy and sunshine and the most thoughtful person I ever met. I will cherish the memory of my time with my sweet friend, I called Miss Minnesota, and miss her terribly.

I remember times when I'd be asked to take up to Sue some files; what I noticed was a cheerful, warm greeting. I'm so sorry I was not aware of her cancer. My sympathy to her family at this time.
