Eric Beck Obituary
Eric Clyde Beck, 62, of Menan, Idaho passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 from a battle with Brain Cancer. He was born January 18, 1955 in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the LDS Hospital, the son of Clyde R Beck and Maurine Poole Beck.
Eric graduated from Rigby High School in 1973. He served as a missionary for the LDS Church to the England East Mission. After returning from serving a mission, he worked alongside his father, farming and ranching on the family property.
On July 30, 1976, Eric married Julia Jensen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Eric and Julia have been married 41 years. They raised their family in Menan where he continued running the farm. Eric has worked on several canal boards, Jefferson School Board and the Menan Coop Board. As member of the LDS Church, Eric had opportunity to serve in various callings. Currently he was serving in the Bishopric of the LDS 80th Ward at BYU-I.
Eric enjoyed reading and had a variety of hobbies thru the years. He loved to learn, read, always had a Border Collie, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had many friends and made a new friend easily. He will be missed by all.
Eric is survived by his wife Julia Beck of Menan, Idaho. His daughters, Annie (Zane) Burgess of Menan, Idaho and Marlee (Brandon) Tibbitts of Franklin, Idaho. His son, Cortney (Holly) Beck of Rigby, Idaho. His mother, Maurine Beck of Menan, Idaho and his brother, Craig (Kris) Beck of Menan, Idaho and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde R. Beck, his son, Austin Jensen Beck and his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Menan LDS Stake Center (698 North 3600 East MENAN, Idaho). The family will meet with friends, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM and Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM both at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
The family would like to Thank family, friends, and Aspen Home Care and Hospice for the love and compassion shown to Eric through his illness.

Eric was one of the finest guys I knew He was kind and a good friend to all. He worked hard and had balance in his life. Even though he wasn't "so called" college educated, he had a deep love of learning and never stopped learning and improving. He was a great american and stayed current on politics and issues of the day. He loved doing good , had a lot of charity, loved his family and the gospel. The world is better because of his life!

Eric, It has been a blessing for me to know you and your family. I am sorry that I had no idea you were struggling with this cancer. I am so sorry to hear of Eric's' passing. Eric was my cousin. I have felt strongly for the last couple years to get reconnected with him and learn more about my moms family. My mother was Joy and Clyde was her brother. I saw Eric not to long ago at Aunt LaRues home and had a short visit. After seeing him again after many years I felt so sad at all the lost years because I felt we would of been great friends. Even though you do not know me, my love and prayers are with you and yours.

As the coordinator and instructor of the Idaho State University Farm Business Management Program, I had the opportunity to have Eric in class for several years. He was the perfect student. He learned quickly, participated in discussions, and asked thought provoking questions. I regard Eric as one of the most intelligent students I ever encountered.

I first met Eric about 1981. We both had a interest in falconry and hawks. My time with Eric trying to trap him a Red Tail hawk to train up near Kilgore Idaho is a treasured memory.
