Mrs. Susan Upshaw of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009. She was born in Rosinville, S.C. on January 20, 1922, to Joseph Allen Thomas and Rell Marchant Thomas.

"Momma" is survived by her daughters – Linda Sue Tippin (husband Buddy); Pamela Huggins (husband Kim); and her son Martin "Buddy" Upshaw, Jr (wife Dee), all of Pensacola, Fl. Her surviving grandchildren are Angela Farage (husband John) of Phoenix, AZ; Ryan, Amber, & Nathan Huggins of Pensacola, Fl; Janina Upshaw and Janelle Schroeder (husband Christopher) of Pensacola, Fl, and Jennifer Pollmeier (husband Dennis) of Norfolk, Va. Her great grandchildren are Nicholas & Christopher Farage of Phoenix, AZ; Raven, Jade, & Paige Pollmeier of Norfolk, Va.: and Drayton Schroeder of Pensacola, Fl. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of over 54 years, Martin M. Upshaw, Sr; brothers Henry, Joe Lester, and Daniel Thomas; sisters Virginia Whetsell, Lucille Infinger Platt, and Elise Westbury.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, from 4 to 6 pm at Oaklawn Funeral Home. A service will be held at Oaklawn on Tuesday at 9 am with burial to follow at Barancus National Cemetery at 10:45 am. Pallbearers will be family and friends .
