EUGENE - Susanna E. Proyan was born in 1942 in Portland to Louis and Marjorie (Hibbert) Scruggs. She died August 22, 2007 after a battle with cancer.Susanna married Thomas Oroyan in 1962 in Springfield. They were married 46 years. Susanna attended North Salem High School, graduating in 1960. She received her B.A. from California State University, Sacramento and her M.A. in English at the University of Oregon in 1971. She was a substitute teacher at Eugene Springfield and Bethel Public Schools from 1968 to 1972, taught at the High School Equivalency Program at the University of Oregon in 1972, was the owner and publisher of Frabricat Design Teaching Educational Material for Sculpture and Design from 1975, and was the office administrator for her husband’s architectural firm for nine years.Susanna is survived by her husband, Thomas of Eugene; her mother, Eunice Scruggs of Eugene; her son, Martin Oroyan of London, England; two grandchildren; and her brother, David Scruggs of Portland. She was predeceased by her father, Louis Scruggs in 1995.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 5 at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 3925 Hilyard St., Eugene. A second memorial service will be at 12 p.m. Friday, September 14 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, Kaneohe, Hawaii, with inurnment following at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Greenhill Animal Shelter. Arrangements are by England’s Eugene Memorial Chapel.
