Susanne Sommer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 30, 2024.
Susanne Marie Sommer, 49, of Weston WI passed on to a greater calling in Heaven on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, after a battle with a genetic chronic illness, while surrounded by her beloved family.

Sue was born to Mary and Eugene Freese. She had 3 beautiful children, Michael, Tyler, and Katie, and 2 stepchildren, Kayla and Nicholas who were her world. Her close relationship with her mother taught her how to be the best mom imaginable to her own children. She offered so much love, guidance and support to her children and nothing in life would keep her away from them.

In 2010, Sue found her soul mate in her friend Brian Doll. Their love was like no other. Together they raised their 5 children and showed them what true love is by example. Brian and Sue were the missing puzzle piece in each other's lives, and everyone in their presence felt their connection. When she became a grandmother, her life became more fulfilled than she could ever imagine. As a mother and grandmother, she had found her purpose in life and loved every moment. Her eyes sparkled and her smile shined brighter than the sun when she spoke of her grandchildren. She will always be "crazy Grandma Sue".

There are no words that can capture the kind of person Sue was. She was the kind of woman who everyone felt comfortable around. To say she had an infectious and unique laugh would be an absolute understatement! When she was in your presence, you felt nothing but her love and warmth. She was the kind of person others strive to be and made those around her want to be the best version of themselves.

Sue loved the holidays, and decorating she and Brian's home was one of her favorite things to do. Like everything in her life, she didn't do anything at 50%; she went all out. Christmas, Halloween, and 4th of July were her favorites. She loved enjoying time on the deck and making her backyard the prettiest and most colorful on the block. Her creativity and meticulous nature made her a natural when it came to her crafting skills. She was so unique in that she could spend her day using power tools and hanging drywall and put on heels and a dress hours later and be the most beautiful woman in the room.

This year, Sue was the reigning champion of her fantasy football league, much to the chagrin of the 11 men in the league. Sue picked her players strictly by name; if she didn't like the player's name - they weren't getting picked. She loved backyard volleyball parties with her family, soaking up the sun on the boat, and laughing by a campfire with loved ones.

Sue had a quick-witted comeback for every roast she was ever given, often using made-up word combinations that left her friends and family speechless or rolling in laughter.

Sue is survived by her soulmate, Brian Doll of Weston, WI, her parents Mary and Eugene Freese of Edgar, children Michael (Carley) Sommer, Tyler (Taylor) Sommer, Katie (Matt) Wierzba, Kayla Doll, and Nicholas Doll, grandchildren Sophia, Hudson, Lincoln, and Vincent, siblings Rich (Shelley) Freese of Abbotsford, Laurie Freese of Stratford, Chris Freese of Edgar, Jon (Ashley) Freese of Edgar, Danielle (Josh) Heiden of Stratford, Lisa (Loren) Fischer of Birnamwood, Becky (Tina) Freese of Granton, Stephanie (Bill) Moses of Black River Falls, and Samantha (Cody) Cheek of Milan.

Sue was preceded in death by her maternal Grandmother, Margaret Lemmer, her Uncle Bill Lemmer, and other beloved family and friends whom she has been reunited with in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from 9am-10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 119200 Larch St, Stratford, WI, followed by Mass from 10am-11am and a brief service at the St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life held at 12:00pm at the Wausau Elks Lodge, 414 Scott St., Wausau WI. We invite you to join us in this celebration and encourage the sharing of stories of joy and laughter that Sue brought to those who knew her.

Susie, you will always be remembered for your wonderful laugh and spunky personality. You did everything with your whole heart & marched to the beat of your own drum never worrying, about what others thought of you. Instead, you worried about living a life that you were proud of.

I know you´re up in heaven right now, lighting up the heavens with that wonderful laugh and getting the party started ...rest in peace Susie... and tell my mom hi!
