Suzanne Joan Ahnert

Suzanne Joan Ahnert (née DesMarais), 82, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born on February 11, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Suzanne was the daughter of Robert and Loretta DesMarais (née Sutter). She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Robert DesMarais Jr. A proud member of the first graduating class of Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Suzanne graduated in 1960 and went on to earn her degree from the Marquette University School of Dental Hygienists in 1962. Her distinguished career as a dental hygienist spanned more than 45 years.

Suzanne resided for many years in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She found joy in spending summers at her lake house in Door County, where she enjoyed bike riding and gardening. Known for her generous spirit and dedication to service, Suzanne volunteered extensively with various humanitarian organizations throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving daughters Anne (Mick) Huijs and Ellen Hueffner; her cherished grandson Aiden Hueffner; her sister-in-law Joann DesMarais; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Suzanne's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Faith House in Sheboygan and the Sharon Richardson Hospice Care Team for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Suzanne's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Suzanne will be remembered for her dedication to her profession, her love of nature and family, and the kindness she shared with all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
