SUZANNE GILSON Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 27, 2023.
SUZANNE "SUE" HUTNER GILSON, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Sue was born in Fort Wayne on April 2, 1936, to David Samuel Hutner and Dorothy Wolf Hutner, both of whom preceded her in death. Sue was raised in Fort Wayne with her older brother, Robert Wolf Hutner, also deceased. She attended the Connecticut College for Women for one year, and then transferred to Indiana University in Bloomington where she later graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Sue briefly taught young children at Harrison Hill Elementary School. Once married, she generously dedicated her time to her children as a full time mom. She gave back to her community in many ways. Sue regularly volunteered and philanthropically supported several organizations dear to her heart. Later in life, her passion for fashion never waned, and Sue derived great pleasure working for a couple of locally owned women's clothing retail establishments. She was proud of her family's business success and history in women's fashion - and truly enjoyed using her keen sense of style to clothe Fort Wayne women. Sue is survived by her three children, Deborah Fenner, Geoffrey Fenner and Bradley Fenner; and her three grandchildren, Lauren Fenner, Ryan Fenner and Casey Fenner. She is also survived by her nephews, David Hutner, Bobby Hutner, and Brian (Kelly) Hutner. A Celebration of Life is 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 W. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Indiana University Foundation or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
