Suzanne HEBERT-SAINDON Obituary
February 1, 1956 – December 11, 2015
Suzanne was a much loved music and primary school teacher with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board before she was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. Her Bayview Public School children's choirs were her pride and joy, and the children responded enthusiastically to her teaching and direction. Prior to teaching in Ottawa, Suzanne was an Acadian singer-songwriter, touring extensively throughout French-Canada and France. Her album ODE was a major influence in contemporary Acadian music. Whether performing music, teaching, or anything else, Suzanne always did it with enthusiasm. She always approached each person with the love and consideration that she felt everyone was entitled to. Her gentle grace in every situation helped those around her to give their best. Suzanne passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband Paul, her son Mathieu and daughter Marie-Claire and their spouses, her sisters Denise, Monique, Cécile, her brother Jean-Guy and her extended Saindon family. Family and friends are invited to visit Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway) on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 12 noon until time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Space. In memory of Suzanne, donation to the Doctors without Borders would be appreciated. Tributes may be sent via Lifetimes at

My sincere condolences to both families ,I knew Suzanne in school in the early years,I used to lived on 45th St. and also know Paul too, reel shock.

À la famille Hébert-Saindon de la famille Copeland-Lord, toutes nos condoléances. Nous nous sommes connus quand nos enfants étaient ensemble à l'École Séraphin-Marion (Julien était dans la classe de Mathieu). Nous venions d'arriver à Ottawa et je me rappelle très bien d'une grande fête de fin d'année quand Suzanne a offert le beau cadeau de sa musique à toute la grande famille de l'école. Nous espérons que les souvenirs des bons moments avec Suzanne vous réconforteront en ces moments difficiles.

Hi, it's me, one of your students.
I've had the great pleasure of knowing you and singing with you and the choir. I remember the time we appeared on TV, singing, and the crew interviewing you. You're the reason I started learning music, and without you, I would never have learned to sing, or play the piano.

Ron and I are devastated by such a great loss to Suzanne's family and the whole community. Suzanne got us started with the Musical Firesides when we were baby Baha'is and we both hold her in our hearts forever for this and for the amazing person that she was.
