Suzanne Ellis Ratliff

February 7, 1942 - July 23, 2025

Fort Worth: Suzanne Ellis Ratliff, 83, a beloved, long-time resident of Fort Worth, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, following a brief and unexpected illness. Born in Murray County, OK to the late Eunita "Nita" and Capt. Henry "Hank" Walburn, a pilot for American Airlines, she was honored and proud of her Chickasaw Nation Heritage.

Suzanne lived a full and rewarding life and it showed in everything she did. After graduating from, then, the American Airlines Stewardess College, she became a flight attendant for American, enjoying the travel and customers she served, which well suited her vibrant and extroverted personality. Always with an eye for beauty and style, she became representative for Estee Lauder, at Neiman Marcus Events for 30 years. She also worked throughout the years with Jan Simus Events/Combined Concepts Unlimited. In recent years she worked in the office of Dr. Susan M. Shropshire, MD.

Suzanne was a Born-Again Christian and a true Spirit Filled Believer. She was an encourager to all she met and knew. She served on the Capstone Serve Team at Capstone Church and considered it a great honor to serve people in this way. Her faith in the Lord was her guiding light throughout her Christian life and it was her life's mission to serve Him with faithfulness and commitment. She had a true gift of discernment and empathy, and her spiritual devotion inspired all who knew her as she lived each day with grace, kindness and an unshakable belief that radiated from her very being.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Carter of Fort Worh. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories; survived by her son, Shawn Scaff, OK, niece, The Rev. Karen A. Monk - Cairo, NY, and nephew David Randall (Randy) - Gilmer, TX and great nephew, Matthew Randall; and, an extended family of friends in Ft. Worth, the Metroplex, and in other parts of the country, who will miss her warm conversations and beautiful smile in their lives. Rest in peace, dear Suzanne. You are loved.

Grateful appreciation to: Pastor Parkey and Mrs. Rhonda Cobern, The Capstone Serve Teams, Mrs. Colleen Berry, Mr. Larry Campbell, Ms. Jennifer Marriott, Mr. Jerry Goodman, Ms. Jan Simus Curry, and the Hospice Care Nurses at Harris Hospital Downtown, Fort Worth for the great care and exceptional kindness shown to Suzanne during a challenging season.

Suzanne was everything described about her here. I truly cannot remember when she was not a part of my life even after leaving Ft. Worth, 25 years ago. She was such a blessing to have as a dear, dear friend who was always considered a part of my family. I will miss her dearly, especially her "hello precious." I will meet you in heaven someday. Rest in peace, "beautiful Suzanne." Ever loved.
