It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing at home of Seema on September 23, 2015 at the age of 76 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Loving wife and friend of Hari Johri for 50 years, and loving mother of Mira (Andreas Warburton), Seema will be forever remembered. Seema graduated from medical school in India and migrated to Canada in 1966 to join her husband. She was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1970 after completing residency training at McMaster University in Hamilton. Seema was a dedicated medical doctor and practiced in Kitchener and Ottawa for over 40 years, delivering thousands of babies. She was Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Grace Hospital and later at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. Seema will be missed in India by the families of her sister Mona (Prahlad), late sister Vimla (Jaiswarup) and brother Saran (Bina). She will also be lovingly remembered by Hari's brother, Rajan (Sharda), and his family: Jyoti (Sanjay), late Deepak (Nita), Simi (Vivek), Sonia (Naveen) and their children. Seema also leaves behind members of her extended family: Asha (Sunder), Lalu (Shashi), Leila (Rafiq), Malti (Roop), Nirmala (Rajinder), Prem (Hari), Sudershan (Vijay), and many friends and family members in India, Canada, England and the USA. The family thanks Drs. Rachel Goodwin and Andrew Mai for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank the 5 East oncology nurses and staff of the Ottawa Hospital for providing excellent care during several stays. At home, Farzana, the nurses and Personal Service Workers provided warm and loving help at all times. Friends are invited to visit the Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26. Memorial donations in memory of Seema may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, or a worthy charity of your choice.

Hi, Thank you Dr Johri for being you :) We were saddened to read of your passing.
Thank you so so much for helping my mother give birth to myself and my brother back in 1996 & 2000. My mother always talks so highly of you. When she found out you moved hospitals she requested you for my brothers birth in 2000. You were professional, friendly, intelligent, just so so kind. The list goes on for positives.
I hope you are at peace. You have been such a fantastic Doctor and human being.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Johri's passing. She was a special person to me and my family. Her professionalism and no-nonsense personality helped me with the births of my four children at the Grace Hospital from 1980 to 1996. She was a remarkable doctor who personally saw patients through the problems. I am happy I knew her.

We learnt about Seema leaving all of us behind only upon our return from Ottawa. When we visited Seema at her home just a couple of weeks ago, never could we have imagined that the end was so near. We knew her closely from the very first day some 40 years ago the family moved to Ottawa. Besides, being the finest O&G surgeon, she was a warm, charming, kind, generous and loving person who received everyone with an infectious smile. May her soul rest in eternal calm & peace after 4 years of battling pain and suffering. Hari, We know what you must be going through. We can only pray that the almighty God give you a lot of strength to bear this tremendous loss. Henceforth, you will be in our thoughts and daily prayers.

I met Dr Johri over 30 years ago at the Grace Hospital in my final year of training as a family physician. What a fine woman and so very skilled in all she did. She was one of the rare specialists who recognized that a family physician had skills that could help a patient having difficulty, and invited the FP's participation providing care. I learned so much from her. She will be missed by so many in so many ways.

I am deeply saddened to learn of this very sad news. I have fond memories of playing with Mira right at Hamilton, Ontario and in Ottawa and just spending great times with Seema Auntie and Hari Uncle.Seema Auntie was also very instrumental in helping me when I was living and working in Ottawa for approximately 9 months. We are and will miss her tremendously.....
