Dear Pap Syd,

I'm sitting here in my apartment in Las Vegas @ 3:30 in the morning looking at pictures of you....You're smiling in every single one of them. I close my eyes and I can see that smile. I feel your presence with me and always will. I will always remember you pap. Always taking an interest in my life. Barely missing a baseball game. It always meant a lot to me. I can remember how shocked you were when I found your secret money stash. I can remember how shocked you were when you found out first hand how good I was at poker. Who knows maybe one of these days I'll win millions playing. But whatever it is I do in this life I will always have you to thank for guidance. Thank you for giving me the greatest father in this world. Thank you for giving me great aunts. We have the greatest family and they as well as you are with me in my heart no matter what no matter how far away I am. I will always remember Pap. Until we meet again.

I Love you
Your grandson

Dear Daddy,
I miss you so much, everyday, and I feel my world is incomplete without you. I was thinking about how you worked so much out of town and yet we never felt like you were gone. When you walked in that door, we were so happy to be with you again. The times you were home, you more than made up for the times you weren't. I have to believe that is how it will be for all of us now. Though you are not phyically here, I know you will never leave us. A strong bond such as our family's cannot be broken because you are now in a better place. You mean everything to me. You represent everything right in the world. We are so fortunate to have had you as a father, as a role model, and as a friend. Everyone who met you was touched by your kindness. We were so fortunate to be touched by your love. Your children are better people because of you. Mommy's life was fulfilled because of you. I will always miss you, however, I take comfort knowing that your love remains. We will always have your gift of love and laughter in our hearts.
With all of my heart, I love you,
Joyce

Dear Dad,

I will always be grateful for God's blessing of having you for my "Second Dad". I am so blessed to have your wonderful son, who is SO YOU! Dave is the kind, gentle husband and father that he is because of your example. I can only hope and pray that Josh and Jason model themselves after you. How lucky we all are to have had you in our lives.

I love you,
Kathy

Dear Mary, David, Susan, Nancy and Joyce,

I will always remember the bubble gum machines and the cigars. However, It was his constant smile and loving presence in everyones lives that I will remember most. Bigelow Street will not be the same without him.

Daddy,
You were a gift from God. My life is so blessed to have had you, and I am the person I am because of you. Someone said to me " He must have been an angel to have been taken on Christmas". You are my angel dad, and you will be with me every day until we meet again. I love you with all my heart.

Daddy,
My world will never be the same without you in it. There are no words to express what you mean to me. I know I will have to strive to be a better person so that I can get to where you are. Until then, you are with me in my heart, and I feel your presence every day. I love you.
Your loving daughter, Susan

Dear Mary ,David
, Susan, Nancy, and Joyce,

We wish we could be with you tonight and tomorrow. We only were with Syd a few times but Bob and I had such respect for him. He was such a kind and gentle man that I can see why you so devasted by his untimely death. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Try to remember that he is in a better place with no more suffering.
All our love,
Janet and Bob

Dear Mary, Nancy, Joyce, Susan, David and your families;

'The voice is quiet, but the spirit echos'. Words will always be in adequate,it is remarkable though the awesome gift God saw fit for your father, and all those who were called on that day...imagine the light in his eyes as he met His Saviour....what a gift indeed.

Respectfully,

Dear Aunt Mary and family:
I deeply regret that I was unable to be with you, I tried so hard but every choice I had would not have gotten me to you in time. I will plan a visit however, in the near future, to see you.

I know that everyone who met Syd discovered a heart that was indeed unusual and unique. I felt a certain softness when I was in his presence like no other person I have ever met. I find it so amazing that for a young child I was able to experience his special spirit. I hold those memories so dear now with his loss.

There is no doubt that God selected a very special angel to be with our Uncle Syd on December 25, 2009.

I pray that my Dad, Carole, Syd and others will be there to help me when it is my time to enter "The Great Kingdom".

My love to you Mary and the kids

Dear Aunt Mary,
What first come to thought about Uncle Syd was his gentle spirit, kind words and, of course, the bubble gum machines. I am sad for you and your family and think of you always.

Love,
