Sylvester Knox "S.K." Smith

CARTHAGE - Graveside services for Sylvester Knox "S.K." Smith, 78, of Carthage will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, at Carthage City Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Reed officiating. Services are under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home . Mr. Smith died Friday, June 23, 2006, in Carthage. He was born Aug. 11, 1927 in Alvarado to Marion and Myrtle Ash Smith, one of seven children. Mr. Smith married Nettie Joe Beall and celebrated almost 32 years of marriage together. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, was a known painter and carpenter in the Carthage area for many years and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He is survived by wife, Nettie Smith of Carthage; son, Mitchell K. Smith of North Richland Hills; daughter, Paula K. Brady of Fort Worth; brother, Don Smith of Bowie; sisters, Dannie Cross of Burleson, Sarah Armstrong of Burleson and Emma Jo Prince of California; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
