Sylvia Brustad, 96, of Crookston, MN died on February 3, 2006 at the Riverview Care Center in Crookston, MN. Sylvia was born on February 24, 2006 at Long Prairie, MN the daughter of Sylvan & Jertina (Jenson) Sheets. Her family moved to Clearbrook when she was young. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1927. She attended Bagley Normal School to be qualified as a teacher for all eight grades in rural school. She taught at a country school around Clearbrook for 4 years. She married Clifford Brustad in Mahnomen, MN in 1931. She was a homemaker raising their two daughters in Bagley. She is survived by her daughters - Leah (Frank) Nelson of Skopje Macedonia; Bonnie (Curt) Josephson of Fisher, MN. Grandchildren - Nicole Sweigard of Lincoln, Nebraska; Lisa VanRoekel of Bakersfield, CA; Frank Nelson of Minnetonka, MN; Brita Bawersox of LaGrande, OR. Great Grandchildren - Alissa, Sydney, Madison, Jackson & John Lewis, Madeline, Collin & Gracyson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford, 6 brothers & 1 sister. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, MN with the Rev. John Omans officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Bagley City Cemetery.
