Nothing but good memories to celebrate the life of Sylvia with. We shared 20 DeCormier years in the New York Choral Society with uncountable wonderful memories. It is a pleasure to refresh them..

Sylvia and I were both graduates of the University of Vermont, though in different decades. We were introduced by a special faculty member who was also a dear friend to each of us. Soon Sylvia and I were also friends. I often stayed with her on trips to rediscover NYC and always had a super time. She would stay with me when she came to UVM reunions or at other times. Often my visits to her coincided with a NYCS concert. I will miss her spirit, her voice, and sharing our ideas around music, Vermont, books and politics. She was amazing to me in having remained an absolutely genuine Vermont farm girl who somehow embraced the big city and all the culture it had to offer and seemed to thrive in both places. Our mutual friend would have said that "Sylvia had no side." What she displayed to others (compassion, caring and interest) was what was actually inside. We shall not see her like again. Be at peace, dear friend.

I was always proud to claim Sylvia as a distant cousin. She grew up around the corner from my grandparents and her sister was my mother's best friend. Sylvia was a wonderful hostess when we visited her in Rochester and NYC. She surely was one who lived life to the fullest. May she rest in peace.

Always fond memories of any time we spent with Sylvia in Vermont or in New York. She taught me to swim when I was a young girl. I always admired her bravery to live in the city and ability to navigate to any place we wanted to go when we visited. At every crossing she would say "here we go".

So sorry to learn of Sylvia´s passing. We are colleagues throughout the 70s and early 80s at a Wall Street firm and listened often to WQXR radio when circumstances permitted. She had a rich, full life that always centered around music and the New York Choral Society. Sincere condolences to her family and friends. RIP Sylvia.
